Sherwood is the strong favourite to replace Harry Redknapp, who resigned on Tuesday morning. Ramsey knows Sherwood well having worked with him at Tottenham, where the former midfielder was manager for the second half of last season. “We are good friends outside of football, we speak regularly,” said Ramsey. “He gave me an opportunity last season along with Tottenham to coach in the Premier League, I’d be happy to work with him. He’s very good at what he does.” Ramsey is sharing the role with Kevin Bond for the match at home to Southampton tomorrow and revealed neither is sure yet who has the final say on tactical decisions. He added: “It will be a collaborative thing. Myself and Kevin have had a chat about the weekend. Whatever happens, we are just looking to pick the best team.
That's encouraging to hear, and reassures me a little as lots have slated Sherwood as being hard to work with.
Well, truth is Ramsey will say whatever he needs to to ensure his future with Sherwood. I'm still not feeling all warm and fuzzy but at present keeping an opening mind.
Did Ramsey quite use the words in the headline? I don't think he went quite that far and rightly so. Anyway in these coalitions do we call the manager kevis Bonsey or Chrisen Ramsbond?
No he didn't. Watch the pre-match presser to hear exactly what he said. He was very complimentary about Sherwood, but he didn't go as far as to say that he "hoped he got the job". More journalistic bollocks!
Absolutely. If anything the full press conference shows how inexperienced CR is at dealing with a media who will twist your every word. To put it in context, he was first asked if he'd spoken with TS since Tuesday morning, to which he replied that he had as they were friends outside of football. He was then asked if he'd "have a problem" working under TS, to which he replied that he wouldn't and that TS had given him an opportunity at Spurs. Both of these were straight answers to straight questions, but neither meant that CR is campaigning for TS to get the job, or that TS is a certainty for it. Unfortunately that's of no interest to the press, who got exactly what they wanted.
Why do they even bother with conferences or interviews when they just twist words like this? Journalists today just suck.
Nothing new. Private Eye has been using the name "Street of Shame" for Fleet Street for decades. The notion of the UK having better quality newspapers than other developed economies is nonsense.
I thought Ramsey did alright. The nice thing about modern journalism is that, while they love to twist words, we get to see the source material and call out their bullshit. He was honest and truthful about being a friend of Sherwood and I think its positively ridiculous to assume that, given the past relations, that Les and Chris wouldn't think that having their friend and colleague as manager would be a good idea. Ramsey mentioned that he didn't know and handled himself well for a first presser. It's refreshing to see someone who doesn't serve up the same useless stuff or the reams of excuses that Harry offered us before and after every game.
