I know, 63 this year, 50 plus years supporting this shower, its only a pre season friendly, its not a proper game, some of you have been to Germany, York,Burnley,Kilmarnock,Darlo and Hartlepool, I really should no better, I know all of that.

But I’m like a kid on Christmas eve, shirt on hanger, trousers, shoes, coat in case of rain, car cleaned, petrol in, drink for journey.

Going with son and grandson, its grandsons very first away trip and I am under orders to stop in the layby at Haggerston Castle, van does cracking bacon sarnies.

Get to ground and find parking spot then walk and see those red and white shirts, all happy and full of anticipation.

Find food and drink, then watch the team come in, see our new players then into the ground.

Warm up, banter, excitement and kick off, first chance to see the team and feel the buzz.

I really should no better, have I said that?

It'll be a cracking day up there Syd, nice city filled with good folk, and seeing as Hibs are absolutely gash, a win for the mighty SAFC.

Watch out for them bastard speed cameras though, they are everywhere on that trip!

Syd exiled up here now, have converted my Hearts wife to the pain, joy and more pain of life as an safc fan! We've got tickets in the Sunderland end and both of us are dead excited, her as a SAFC fan coupled with her in built hatred of Hibs. Used to have a season ticket and get to half a dozen away games as well, always excited then before a game, even when a tonking was on the cards. Have a wee baby now and commitments doing up house as well, so hardly ever have both time and money to go. Love that pre match feeling, great to have it back. Can't wait for the morrow!

Your grandson will have a top day, remember the feeling of going with my dad to my first away game and how exciting it was. Great post mate, thanks a lot
