I'm worried that yesterday will only convince CH further that the best thing to do when you are leading is to concede possession and defend deep.
umm I don't think so. Theres only so much a manager can do. He gave them their instructions but the likes of snodgrass and co (he was a warrior today) really wanted the the result today and that fills me with joy.
I even started a thread about him last night - warrior is an excellent choice of word for his performance yesterday. (Disclaimer-I wouldn't really like to snog him, it was a beer influenced poor play on words )
Agreed, but E Bennett played a stormer too - and can deliver first time balls in, to give their back four some problems. This 'inverted winger' business needs changing now and again to avoid it becoming too predictable/comfortable to defend against. Benno and Snoddy full of running and ideas yest - more of the same, please lads
snod and e benett did well, so did bradley j - made some storming runs during the game. shame about the other two in midfield really who unfortuanately didn't have the best of games.
Agree about Snods as MotM, but Benno ran him very close with both assists for the goals and the first cross at full tilt right on to Snods' head was top class and crucial to the result. Swansea look impressive going forward but that break caught their RB committed too far forward leaving Snods acres of space to score with his header. I was disappointed about the booing in the first half though.
if the defense had played to their normal standard we would have won this match fairly comfortably. too often Swansea put an aerial ball in and no-one challenged for it at all. both Snoddy and Benno had excellent games. Bennos easily his best this season, proving that a few consecutive games brings sharpness and confidence.
Yeah, they were a little below par yesterday, the Swans 2nd goal really highlighted that as they all stood around ball watching to a large extent.
At the end of the day our midfield was much better than it has been for ages. Tettey in for Howson, and I'll be confident against Reading.
Fat Holt was lucky to stay on the pitch after the assault he carried out on that Swansea player! A 3 match ban awaits him as the referee clearly didn't see it!
To be honest Im not sure how much we would miss him at the moment, he certainly has not been at his best recently.
YAWN! Are you still talking? Did the cream they gave you when Holt torched your arse do any good or is it still tender for you and the rest of the bin-men?
Spot on Kemp - he hasn't contributed much recently; though I'll always be grateful for what he did in the last 2 seasons.
^ This I think it's time to say bye bye to Holty for the rest of the campaign and get Becchio on with Kei, Holt is a liability from the second he crosses the white line ! Never ever thought I'd say that, legend he will always be but he's just not got his head on right at the moment.
For arsenal I'd like to see: --------------Bunn------------- Whittaker-Turner-Bassong-Garrido -----Tettey-----Johnson-------- Bennett---Howson-----Snodgrass ----------Kamara--------------- That's assuming that Bunn and Tettey are fully fit, and Pilks isn't. As someone else said previously, the vast majority of our chances against Swansea came from out wide, so having Wes on the pitch seems a little bit of a waste, and he wasn't on form either. We could do with seeing how Howson get's on in his preferred, more advance position, and he'd also offer greater aerial support in the box, particularly if Kamara has drifted wide. On the topic of Holt, after his recent displays I'd much rather bring Becchio on if/when Kamara tires or we're chasing the game. His head doesn't appear to be in the right place, and Becchio deserves a chance to show what he can do.
