Along the same lines of Wize's 'I Wish I Could Meet' how about famous people that you have met, not including footballers. I'll start - Van Morrison. An what a miserable bastard he was too !! Not happy with delaying the Aer Lingus flight from Bristol - Dublin by half an hour, he was the grumpiest son of a bitch imaginable.
And Kip Keino, he was at the time looking round my school. I had no idea who he was until he and his entourage had left.
Ran in races including Mo Farah, Kipsang, Kebede, Bikele etc- Never managed to catch them up! Met Ian Botham when he was about 17. Met and chatted with Seb (Lord) Coe and was surprised how short he was. Tanni Grey-Thompson met and she also handed me a bottle of water at the Great North Run.Both really nice and interesting people.
In no particular order, some people that were lucky enough to meet and chat with me; Fergal Sharkey I.V.A. Richards I.T. Botham Joel Garner Imran Khan George Melly John Cleese Hugh Cornwell Boy George with Jon Moss New Order The Bloodhound Gang Sister Sledge Ester Williams Paul Weller Katie Rabbitt Chris Evans Big Daddy Giant Haystacks The Wurzels Eric Bristow Martin Clunes Billy Bragg Iron Maiden Eddie The Eagle Edwards Bowling For Soup The Body Snatchers John Cooper Clarke Funny enough my wife met Charlie on Friday when he came to visit his 'perfect village' Poundbury by Dorchester
Met Henry Cooper, a real gentle giant, Tommy Docherty in his zenith as Man Utd manager, came across as a thick twat, had a pint with Gerry Marsden (Gerry and the Pacemakers) a real honest gent..
My Wife and I were invited to go drinking with the Dubliners in Dublin a few years before Ronnie Drew died
The nicest celebrity I've met was Jimmy Carr. I've met him twice before, once at a gig where he signed something for me and had a brief chat with me, and once in Bristol before one of his gigs. He remembered me from the first time I had met him and offered to buy me a coffee. Another nice guy I met was Nick Clegg. I'm not necessarily a fan of his, or any politician for that matter, but he seemed like a nice enough guy.
Off the top of my head... Simon & Garfunkel Madonna Ossie Osbourne Jason Bonham Soundgarden Barry Manilow The Damned ZZ Top Elton John Pearl Jam Guns & Roses The Wonderstuff Wayne Hussey Henry Cooper George Best Rod Stewart Jeff Beck Joss Stone Lynyrd Synyrd The Cult EMF D-Ream Mike Oldfield Betty Boop Jarvis Cocker Louise and some others.... Never met david Bowie though. He was one of my life ambitions. My hairdresser spent the evening with him, my ex danced with him in a club in NYC back in 1979, various people I have worked with have hung out with him. I was even signed to the same label for a while and still never got to meet him. Still, you know what they say...never meet your heroes (even if it is just for one day)
Paul Nicholls - Absolute workaholic. Sir Peter O'Sullevan - Perfect gentleman. Robert Maxwell - worked with the ****** for a few years - Evil ******.
