Fellow Reds, Today marks the 48th anniversary of the famous " I have a dream " speech by the late Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. This is a very important day in our history as Americans as this man was a revolutionary in the ways he approached the civil rights movement and his thoughts and philosophy on how we should achieve peace and happiness was that of compassion and caring for each other. Violence was never his way and even when he was spit on, beaten, called things that no man, woman, or child should hear, he continued on with the theme of peace and never deterred. This speech is very emotional for those who know about the civil rights movement and my pops was right in the thick of it at the time. When King was shot in Memphis, it seemed like his message was lost with the riots that occurred after his death. Luckily his message was not lost among the crowd, as president Kennedy would give a speech that continued Dr. King's message, Kennedy said that the country needed and wanted unity between blacks and whites, asked the audience members to pray for the King family and the country, and once more quoted the ancient Greeks. "Lets dedicate ourselves to what the ancient greeks wrote so many years ago, to tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of this world. Let us dedicate ourselves to that" The speech was credited in part with preventing many riots in the aftermath of King's assassination. To conclude, this speech is true for any rivaling factions, whether it be black or white, green or orange, Islam or Christianity. We all are here, different colors, different nationalities, different views and beliefs. This speech showed that with the right approach, we can live together whilst being so different. This is a huge reason I love football. You have it all, a rich kid could be playing with a poor kid, some lad from Sierra Leone could be on the same team as someone from Russia, you have players of many different religions playing alongside each other for the same common goal. Very important day for everyone in Memphis as we were right in the thick of it all. I wish we had a revolutionary like him around right now, someone whose views on the world are that not of greed and power, but of peace, love, joy, happiness, and caring for one another.
I have a dream. Its mid May 2012,and we are playing Chelsea at home, and we are 3 points clear at the top of the premiership. Second placed Manchester City are losing 2-0 in their game, a point will ensure that we're crowned champions. Its the 85 minute, Liverpool get corner, Charlie Adam goes to take it, he crosses over, the ball is launched to the edge of the box and it lands at Steven Gerrards feet, he lets fly through a crowd of bodies and the ball nestles in the back of the net. Liverpool knock the ball around for the last couple of minutes and the whistle blows, Liverpool are crowned champions.
My dream is almost exactly the same but Carra gets the winner with a 40 yard bullet header Good speech thread Bluff enjoyed seeing them again
