Midfielder says pressure was on him following Coventry recall. please log in to view this image Marlon Pack grabbed his first City goal in the 3-1 win at Coventry City and declared afterwards: âI knew I had to produce a performance.â The midfielder has been forced to wait for his opportunity this season, appearing as a substitute more often than not. But with Korey Smith sidelined through a hamstring injury on Saturday, Pack was given an opportunity to start at the Ricoh Arena. And he took the chance with aplomb, firing City ahead en route to a seventh win in nine league matches. âI was just delighted to be playing and the goal is an added bonus. Iâm just pleased we took all three points,â Pack told Bristol City Player. âIt took its time to find the bottom corner. When youâre that far out, itâs easy to just strike the ball hard and, certainly in my case, more often than not it ends up high in the stand. âYou just have to try and keep your head down over the ball. If itâs on target hopefully you can make the keeper work and I was pleased to see it go in. âIt was a big day. The team has been settled for so long and Korey (Smith) has been playing so well in the midfield. If anything, Korey has made the position his and has deserved his place in the side. âIâm aware Iâve got to take any chance that comes my way and I got that because of Koreyâs injury. I think there was an added pressure to take my chance. âIt was a very professional performance from the team. We probably didnât play the same sort of football that weâve managed many times already this season â due to the pitch â but I think we played effective football. âWe seem to have the know-how about winning games and hopefully that will continue. âWeâre not an arrogant bunch at all, but thereâs a lot of confidence in the camp. We know weâll create chances and we need to keep doing the business.â Read more at http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/20141020-packpostcoventry-2026154.aspx#flJuB32SHE13hbgu.99
Fair shout to him and I also really liked the attitude of Karleigh Osborne who could have thrown a hissy fit after not making the first 11 every week, but we've now got a focused and importantly, unselfish squad of players, rather than 20 or so individuals all pulling in different directions that we've had in previous seasons.
