I had the theory that the arrival of Aly Cissokho was kept so quiet, was because the club had plans to present two new signings at once, but the deal has now just exploded all over NewsNow, so I'm guessing that means no Willian.

Do you honestly believe we miss out on players because we are too slow?!

We have a team of scouts across Europe who identify targets and track their status and availability.

Do you really then think we dawdle and let other teams 'in to nab them'?! C'mon give them a bit of credit??!!

If we offered him £200k pw he'd be here in a flash. This isn't eBay - there's no countdown timer!

No we never were because we are tooooooooo sloooooooooooow in our transfer dealings. After arsenal we are probably the poorest in moving transfers on. Not saying they don't happen because they obviously do but by the the time we've haggled over a few quid someone else, usually spurs, nip in ahead. The only consolation is that when they did this to us last year neither Dempsey of sigurdsson turned into roaring successes .....unfortunately think willian will...( bastards)

Yes I do actually. I think our team of scouts and negotiators need a rocket up them because they have done sod all since July 1st and what looked like us taking a positive step forward has turned into a little improvement with no further depth in quality really.
Our 1st eleven is good enough to beat anyone but its lack of depth and ' game changers ' we lack and that's what we need to redress.

there are better players out there who are cheaper, just hope we get one in before the window shuts.
Markel Susaeta,Sofiane Feghouli, iker munian, erikson, damiao, muriel all younger and cheaper than willian.

  9. We've sold quite a few player since then and been in negotiations with potentially at least eight clubs/players (Cisokho, Siguera, Papa, Alder, Eriksen, Bernard, Henry Ryan, Willian, etc), not to mention dealing with the suarez bullshit. Therefore, I think it is a little harsh to say the negotiators (Ian Ayre) have been sat on their arse doing nothing!

The scouts couldn't really do much when games weren't being played but even when they are being played, do you expect them to make public announcements about the players they have found?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'd rather hear nothing from the club about our transfer activity until they have something to say. With all due respect, with you being one of the older posters, I thought you would appreciate the Liverpool way of old too <ok>

If we signed eriksen or Muriel or even turan I will take it all back. Just want something to happen that will make us all believe

I do but times change. With social media the way it is there is so much information ( and bullshit) that its hard not to become involved. In times past you had the newspaper, teletext and that was pretty much it.
I would love them to come out this this week and say we have signed x and we all go "wow that fantastic, didnt see that coming" but I don't think it's like that anymore and I don't think clubs can keep the wraps on signings without it becoming public knowledge. It might happen to somebody we have never heard of such as Assaidi but look how that turned out.
All of our signings have been well publicised with the poss exception of toure which was a it of a surprise.

I am sure people are busy behind the scenes but there have been some good players moving this year and we don't seemto get any of them. There must be a finger to point somewhere.

Anyway lets hope I'm wrong, lets hope before sept 2nd we see BR photographed with Papa and eriksen (or similar) and all will be forgiven.

Make an opening £15m bid for Muriel and a £8m bid for Eriksen, hit maximum at around £24m and £15m respectively and I'd be happy.

  13. I actually don't like marquee type signings. I'm a believer in making a superstar rather than signing one. For example, out of us and Chelsea, who signed Torres at the right time? Plus, signing an established player costs money. Fair enough, Torres and Suarez weren't exactly unheard of or cheap, but they were both young and they were both clearly going to improve.

I guess players like Willian, Henry Ryan, Eriksen and, to a lesser extent because of the league he is in, Bernard are those types too. As I just said on the Transfer Rumour thread, I'd love us to get Eriksen but Ford would have to play wide. BR has made it clear he wants Ford central but surely it is about the team?

I appreciate it is more or less impossible to keep things quiet in the modern social media world but surely if Ayre and Rodgers keep their mouth shut then stories wouldn't escape?

  16. I've said it many many times, Lucas is our most important player. He is more important to us than Suarez, Gerrard and Coutinho! The only player that comes near to his importance is Migs! Why? Lack of depth in those positions <ok>

PS...I would have said Enrique to a lesser extent too (because of Johnson) but we signed Cissokho now.

  19. He would be a good back-up but then, that is something else I object to; buying a back-up. I'm of the opinion you should buy fir the first team and the squad will take care of itself.

  20. I used to sing his praises and put his name in the hat every time a transfer window came around. He was superb at Wolves but he's gone completely off the radar now. Same for Adam Johnson.
