... I get back, and our squad has been decimated! OK a bit of an exageration, but we've lost our best 3 players, and announced budget cuts! Whilst I was relaxing, blissfully unaware in sunny Spain, Gills were confirming the departure of McDonald (no surprises there), Bayo (back to the Cobblers??? 4th-from-bottom Cobblers?) and Barcho (I thought he might've had a bit more loyalty, but to be fair he's good enough for lg1 and has been great for us, so good luck to him). So where do we go from here?? Hessy needs to find some bargains and quick, to replace those 3. Those last 4 games of the season are now looking even more crucial. Looks like the cost of staying down in lg2 is a sentence of lg2 consolidation for a few seasons (assuming we can survive) - promotion looking unlikely for now...
Unfortunately it looks like we may need a season or two to rebuild a solid squad that can contend for the title but on the bright side there is still a lot of quality in the team in weston, payne and the likes of them. We just need a few fresh faces (in terms of a goalie, a pacey winger and striker) and i think we could have a chance for promotion, although the league looks to be a harder one next year with those coming up and down into the league:/ Oh and don't forget Palmer wants out too! that's our 4 top scorers i think? At least a lot of the deadwood is gone!
correct thats our top 4 goal scorers so we are effectively replacing 47 goals over a season and that wasnt enough to get into the playoff. this also doesnt account for the countless assists that bayo provided. worried, very much so. thats a lot that needs replacing and with by the sounds of it hardly anything to do it.
Hopefully we won't leak as many goals at the back with a decent goalie and hopefully a more consistent back line this term so technically it would take less goals to do well but yeah considering we've been snubbed by a load of players in this league to lower clubs its not looking to bright but there's still players out there so not necessarily the end of the world
