I do.
Let's say he ends up being sold. He's had just over half of his very first proper season in the premiership with his boyhood club - Newcastle United. This is the club he's grown up with and always dreamt of playing in. He's even been awarded the legendary number 9 shirt and had hoped to follow in the boots of Alan Shearer.
However, because he's actually played TOO WELL, he may now be shipped off to a completely different club and leave his beloved NUFC behind. The spirit and passion will be gone, and every time he scores a goal, he won't be delighted and celebrating with fellow NUFC fans, he will be celebrating with fans and a team who he has essentially been forced to score goals for.
I find it quite gutting that such a potential Newcastle united legend and hero could have just half an EPL season to his name before he's shipped off to a different club and other clubs for the rest of his career. It's the punishment of being too good a player for his home team. Even some frankly crap and passionate-less players will have played at EPL for NUFC longer than Andy has if he's sold.
Real shame. I just hope now that the bid is rejected - whether it's 30mill, 40mill or even 50mill. There's no amount of money on this planet which could replace the passion and spirit he has for the team, and we will NOT get anyone in of similar quality unless we remove our wage restrictions (which won't happen).
