What the hell has been allowed to happen in this crazy football world when players can throw a hissy fit and be transferred to their club of choice. I am getting sick and tired of listening to these whinging mind numbing idiots who feel they can hold their employers to ransom either by crying or saying that they are not in the right frame of mind to play for their club. Scheinederlein, Vermaelen and Agger are the players I have in mind, and may I suggest that if you are in the same frame of mind just tell your boss that fact on Monday and see what happens.

Players that tell their agent where they want to play and to hell with their current employer and then there those who insist that they want to return to their native country (Balotelli?) to play only to change their minds in the off-season and demand a move back where they came from in the first place and probably for more money. I read the BBC Sport gossip column every day and rarely, if ever, see an English name mentioned but rather some player from so far offshore that I'm not sure where it is anymore wanting to come to the land of Cheshire for 150,000 quid a week, and no less please. How many more potential transfers must I read about that is dependant on the player in question to getting a visa application approved before they get their golden chalice.

In my usual Victor Meldrew manner I would just tell them all to bu**er off and never darken our game, or shores, again. Good riddance and bad rubbish - bah humbug I say!

And it's this sort of thing that we'd encounter if we ever get to the Prem.

For me it's a double edged sword, yes of course I want us to do well and be successful, but some of these overpaid, pampered idiot players make me sick.

They could try doing a real job instead and trying to make ends meet, and support a family with no pay rises just for turning up. That might give them a reality check.

The players and their agents hold the power these days - only way it can have any hope of changing is if FIFA/UEFA do something - so actually 2 hopes, No Hope and Bob

While I agree players are rediculously over paid and very few seem to do anything of any worth with their money; surely the fact that players have a choice is more like the real world?

If you are a leader/top in your line of work, then as an employee you can choose to go where you want (providing you're good in interview), and the company you are leaving are completely powerless to stop you.

Football clubs have always had at least some control over when a player leaves and where they go to, and can buy other players in which restricts other players ability to play matches.

It doesn't seem to me that the situation has changed at all - just become a little more extreme is all.
Remember Chris Garland trying to rejoin us from Chelsea back in the 70s. He announced in the national paper that he would walk back to Ashton Gate
But as you say, agents were around then as well. Its them that make the wheels of commerce go around for the players, and cause headaches for the managers

Sad old world really isn't it and you only have to look at the many trouble spots in other parts of this world to see that probably overall we have it pretty good, especially the overpaid players.
