Can somebody explain where I have gone wrong ? I thought that the LAST people who needed more money at these times, were SKY and BT !
These organisations have just been given the licence to 'print' money! They will be able to extort even more money from football fans ( by being able to charge circa £15 for games that would not have got a 'look-in' into the tv schedule ) - but let's not forget the additional premiums they'll extract from adverts.
....and NONE of the money will find it's way back into football. It is clear that the FA cares absolutely ' f a ' about anyone outside the EPL . The FA are '' prostituting'' the integrity of ALL English football - by falling over themselves to find more ways to allow these TV companies to acquire more money.... I wonder if the FA have offered to 'retain' some of the cash in plain brown envelopes ?

Premier League supporters have had it too good for too long, it's always been two fingers up to EFL clubs. Supporters have to pay some considerable money to go to games, you are a dedicated supporter, so you know this. It costs you a small fortune. Even now if we want to watch our club, we have to pay £10 PER GAME!...I don't begrudge having to either. So why shouldn't Prem supporters have to pay in the same way.

I too have limited sympathy for tv customers (( many of who have no interest in physically & financially supporting their local football club -- by actually going to games ))..... I just wished that the situation hasn't become an opportunity for the greedy SKY and BT companies to squeeze even more money from us --- and I stand by my ''accusation'' that some of this extra money will find its way into plain brown envelopes - addressed to the '' FA '' --- who will, once again give the EFL ''Sweet f.a ''

The thing is this was always going to come one day. As soon has we accepted subscription TV, which we accepted quite readily. We are probably a couple of decades behind America, who have always had PPV. People have to pay it if they want to watch a big fight on boxing. We have to pay it if we want to watch our league one club, it's either pay or go without. Live F1 got moved from free tv to subscription. It probably is greedy, but we've had to suffer the consequences of a greedy premier league and it's so called supporters, I merely see this as karma.

I've spent £50 on five live Gillingham games this season, games I've enjoyed and not begrudged paying the money, it's about time Premier League supporters had to dig deeper. Why should they get every day subscription tv, cheaper than I can to watch a league one club once a week, it's never been fair, on us!

When satellite TV first came to life I had bskyb as it was called then.
I had the top package which was a lot less then now, but it did include one sports channel.
After operating for a while a second sports channel was added, everything seemed very good and VFM.
Then Frank Bruno was due to fight for the world title, Sky decided that they would make this their first pay to view showing.
I called the customer services and argued that as I already paid for the sports package it should be free, they didn't agree and said I would need to pay if I wanted to watch it.
As the fight was being shown on one of the two sports channels I already paid for, I asked for a rebate because they were charging me for a channel I couldn't watch without further payment.
I told them to stick the satellite where the signal wouldn't reach, and haven't watched Sky since.

grumpygit -- please excuse me whilst I give a huge sigh..........
I can fully empathise.... I fought for a long time - NOT to subscribe to SKY or BT. I have always attended at stadiums to watch my football - and have spent a LOT more money than it would have cost for a TV package ( and physically and financially supported my team in the process. ). I used to enjoy Test cricket on BBC and Formula 1, Boxing & Golf on the terrestrial channels - but that is all gone from ''free-to-air.''

We live in times when demand will dictate supply ( I think ! ) - and that is why SKY & BT can get away with their monopoly..... and then taking their greed a stage further ( pay-per-view .) ..... so - if you want to continue to watch ''top'', live sport, you have to subscribe to these TV companies -- or you miss out.

I have all sorts of principles - on which I will not compromise. I love watching sport. I hate myself for giving money to the TV companies - but I don't want to miss out on my sport.
I can just about reconcile my conscience for giving money to the TV companies - because -- (( under 'normal' conditions )), I 'physically and financially' support my local football club.......Also, between my sons and I, we all have SKY and BT....but we don't ALL pay for them ! ... I have SKY - and, as you may know, I can share this ( via Skygo ) on other devices ( such as my sons laptop ),- which, when configured to their main television sets, allows for big-screen experience... The same goes for BT - which one of my sons shares with me - and I am able to project it onto my main tv set............ it's not that each member of my family cannot afford both SKY & BT - it's a small act of rebellion against their greed.

I rue the thought that PPV will be 'normal' but - maybe it will evolve without the cartel that we have with SKY & BT... Maybe we'll have a whole host of different suppliers - just like with mobile phones - the cost of which, has plummeted since everybody and his dog has been allowed to provide the service.
