but i am actually looking forward to Europa league even though i still always prefer CL football and i wish we were still in the champions league but now we're out fo it and there's no point moaning about it, we need to look forward to Europa league and lets win it now, this is something new and different. Come on united, lets add Europa League to Sir Alex's trophy list.
Me too. Think it would be good if we do well in the competition and reach the latter stages of the competition and perhaps even go on to win it.
Take away the feeling that you belong in the CL and get your head around the fact that your in the League Cup of European competitions. Good or bad? The good thing is that your club is still involved in a European football environment and has the chance to blood young players and give squad players competitive games instead of sitting on the bench. Plus its still better to make money than not. Theres also the fact of the EL being a piece of silverware that anyone that finished lower than 5th in the Premier League or never won a domestic cup last season cant enter or win. Theres also a chance that you could play City in a major European final(and beat them) The bad side of it means you've been poor in this seasons CL but you'll be in it again next season.
Good assessment. At the moment it still feels like a reminder of our failure in the CL and i struggled to really to really get excited about the game today, but reading your post i am hopeful that can wear off if we make any serious progress. It certainly seems like its being taken seriously by the club (given the line up today) so that helps.
JC,as the comp progresses(providing your still in it)the better teams that are there or thereabouts in the CL most seasons will progress also and the wanting to win it will feel stronger. Thats unless your Berbs.
Similar to the Carling Cup - it's hard to give a monkeys until the final is in sight or unless you get a good tie. It's a shame to see how far Ajax have fallen - technically competent but lacking in quality. Whenever Utd infrequently switched into 2nd gear it looked like they couldn't deal with it.
It will wear off by the semis and you'll actually find yourself really wanting to win it, which is when you'll get knocked out of the tournament, cus fate has a twisted sense of humour!
Agreed, Ajax are now a selling club with them selling all their talented youngsters. Ajax's talented Christian Eriksen will probably move to another club (Rumours swirling around that United are interested) in a years time. Also does not help with the behind the scenes feud between Van Gael and Cruyff which has been going on for years now and has tore Ajax apart.
