Liverpool win battle to sign Jose Enrique

    .
Newcastle have conceded defeat in their attempts to keep Jose Enrique. And that will pave the way for a £5million move to Liverpool to be completed this week.

The two clubs have been in a summer long negotiation over the Spanish left back, after he refused to sign a new deal with the Magpies.

Enrique was fined two weeks' wages after criticising his north east team's lack of ambition, persuading Reds boss Kenny Dalglish to step up his bid to land the defender.

Newcastle know they could lose the player on a free transfer if he enters the final season of his current deal without signing an extension, and now they have accepted the need to cash in.

Hardly news to be fair. Everyone knew he was leaving, no matter how well thought of he is among the fans, you don't keep a player who doesn't want to be there. Just surprised it's taken this long.

Rumour has it that N'Gog going to Newcastle could be part of the deal. Now that would be ironic after the crap the mags gave us when we were linked to him.

This would be funny , but I can't see Ashley meeting N'gogs wage demands. But you never know , Agent Mike works in mysterious ways.

If this story's true then it's completely incon-****ing-siderate as I will now have to change my fantsy team as I'll have too many Liverpool players!! Hmppphh!

On a more serious note, surely it'll be nearer the 10 million mark if it takes place, 5 million for a defender of his quality would be a real steal. Unless Newcastle are feeling a bit sorry for the Scousers after ripping their eyes out with the Carroll transfer!
