I BELIEVE if liverpool played in that final last night we would of WON WHY? because we win more finals than we lose, and more often or not we do turn up no matter the opposition
I agree we would have had at least had bite in midfield. The only thing Giggs can tackle is a welsh bird with big tits and Carrick can't tackle his breakfast.
I totally agreed with Linekers assesment, Barca have to have a bad day, and a lot of mancs were giving out about it, assuming on their day they can beat Barca, rofl United players saw themselves as peers and that they had home soil advantage and had a distinct ignorance of the Barcalona team. United thought they had a chance. United assumed on their day they are as dangerous as barca but thought they were better at the back United last night showed how ignorant they are of the Barcalona team (Vidic stupidly trying to disposses Messi 40 35 yards out and getting done, Rooney thinking he was good enough last night to walk around while barca had the ball because he thought United were good enough to shut Barca out without him and he just hangs about to get the ball and attack!?! Ignorance!! ) When playing a good team, ie Barca, you need 11 players that can press and work hard and this is obvious to even school kids, not Rooney who couldn't be bothered, CL final and he couldn't be bothered working hard, Hernandez, said many times I wouldn't play him because barca press press press and he is physically weak and you need the ball in midfield for him to feed off of, he was dead weight, so at that stage it was 10 against 8 outfield players, Carrick was terrified and it showed in his performance, far too static no anticipation. Recently in a discussion re Hernandez I said he was easy to deal with if you close the space he operates in, was told I know nothing, Barca accounted for Hernandez and Rooney quite well, when they received the ball most times they had two players or three around them, no space at all and well, we know Rooney's temprament and Hernandez's weakness were never going to withstand such pressure. it was a perfect example I was talking about, usually not always once Hernandez has to battle just to receive the ball he is null and void Rooney and Hernandez are at their best when Uniteds wingers and mids are in control and are dictating the game, they are not use for much else as shown yesterday, even the goal was offside and Carrick had he got done for his sly shove on messi would have see red, it could have been far more embarrassing, 3 1 was flattering to United tbh, Giggs screaming for the penalty was a laugh as the exact same thing happened at uniteds end. Stank of desperation as 5 United players were standing there still asking when Barca were attacking, Ronaldoesque Jack Wilshire showed at the emirates, he pressed Messi just before he receives the ball physically blocking him from running towards goal, works on Ronaldo too, having Valencia and Park come inside suited Barca no end, last night messi was allowed to turn turn turn, no pressure when receiving the ball just someone standing in front of him waiting to be done, it aint rocket science to know where he will show up, thats why maureen made it harder for messi to operate in those areas, you can't always stop him but they should have done far better as he had pretty much a free run of things, united just failed to work hard enough for most of the game, look at how hard to dutch worked in the WC final against spain, they got done but at least only just and they put in a shift. This game called for a tight 1 0 win if possible, not an attacking lineup when you are not going to have the ball for long periods. It is all very noble but sacrificial at the end of the day and tactical ignorance and ignorance of your opponent. Like I said, Barca would beat anyone but to be beaten such a way in the top game in club football is embarrassing.
I made a similar point before and got ridiculed for it by suggesting that Hernandez is one of the most one dimensional forwards in Europe.Good striker, but he's got no plan B.He'll be found out if he doesn't adapt himself.Great players do adapt themselves. When you're denied space, you create your own. He'll be marked far tighter next season and thats 100% certain. Its up to him on how he deals with it. As for this nonsense about Rooney being world class,He's far from it.And just because he scored a speculative effort that was marginally off-side may I add, doesn't change the fact that Rooney is not world class, was never world class or will ever be world class.Luis Suarez has all Rooneys tools and he has something Rooney doesn't and thats pure skill. Some people talk about Rooneys ''brilliant technique'',they haven't a clue what their talking about,if they want to know what technique is they should watch Suarez in action.
Rooney is a good street footballer. He left Everton far too early in his career, they tried to protect him but all that cash and a dream ove for him, well, that was it. What would we be seeing if Rooney went to Barca instead of United those years ago? A completely different player thats what, United turned him into a donkey they took that potential and made a one dimensional player, he had the ball in positions yesterday and he had no craft didn't beat players, the ball was like a hot patatoe at times to United players.
When Rooney plays deep acting soely as porvider he is actually very good, I can appreciate his contribution but when you have hin holding the line he just can't go past players but he occupies wide left right forward positions where beating a player is a prerequisite of attacking from those positions. he does occasionally but nowhere enough. He has too many bad games only to get a goal to cover the cracks, like the city game, goal of hte season, absolutely fkn awful performance. Suares plays those same positions and tbh is a better provider from wide areas and has the skill to beat players a skill needed when operating in those areas, he is not so effective someing into the centre, too many bodies so his talents are better used wide where he can run at poeple. I actually think they would be very good together Rooney Suarez combo, I think they would compliment eachother quite well but prefer Suarez because he can just watlze past 3 players and give a killer pass, a nutcracker
guys i agree that surarez will be a better player than rooney, but this is not what i posted. i wrote that we would off beaten barca if we were playing last night and i hope i can start a debate regarding my post.
yeah I gave it a good go, but you know the score with kpRRR lol he cant keep on one subject for 20 seconds due to the herbal and caffine We would have, but we would have approached the game differently, solid tactics on a foundation of understanding and respect for your opponent's abilities, Fergie thought United's defence would stand up which just shows not confidence but ignornace about how good Barca actually are, maybe all the doubters will cop on now, there was a lot of it coming up to the game, mainly united and arsenal fans, while arsenal forgot a good goal disallowed and a stick on pen denied in their win and thus forget to gi ve luck it's due, we would have approached the game right. Rafa pulled off a 2 1 win at the nou, something United could only dream of, they ripped us apart until we closed ranks and ground out a 2 1 win, we adapted this is what United couldn't do, Barca once settled need ot be muscled and shoved in your half, even before they receive the ball, especially before they recieve the ball, no space choke the midfield with a bank of 4 and one of 5, Liverpool have always had a good pressing game when we have had the staff, kuyt is a nuisance to defenders in posession and he would have run all night unlike Rooney Giggs Park and co, 10 minutes and barca adapted and that was it, shake no bake from fergie, clueless as to any idea of how to stop them, you gotta remember fergie has not much experience playing teams of this type, the prem, apart from the very good arsenal side has lacked such silky passing sides, though we do have that pressing game that Barca employ, when liverpool set to be tight, farts don't get through the cracks
BBF. Ferguson has little experience against teams of this type. ------------------------------------------- He has experienced it,and guess what, every time they've met teams that use this tactic,United have lost. There is examples of it in the season just gone. Man United vs Chelsea at SB. Man United vs Arsenal at the Emirates. Man United vs Liverpool at Anfield. All three teams did in a sort of a way what Barcelona did last night,They strangled the living day-lights out of Man Uniteds relatively poor midfield.Let them have the ball and you're going to get killed.Bully and harass them and quite simply annoy them, then you're on your way to victory as they don't have the players to handle it.Quite simply United don't have a player that sticks a boot in and that is what their downfall came from.
You say that but it is regular we beat you every season, where you have been better is against the lesser clubs and this season home form was the key tho you won it by default with everyone else collapsing, hardly indications of a superior team, more like a 30 year coach and consistency. On our day, we can destroy United so I think on our day we would be a better match for Barca, we did go there face a torrid time early on but adapted and ground out a 2 1 win, united mainly fergie was completely lost on what to do based on the staff he had, to not take Berba for whatever non football reasons there was was fkn thick, to play an untested weakling in this game was stupidity of the highest order The united of 99 before schmeichel retired and stam got booted was Uniteds best ever team not this dross or the dross garnished with ronaldo 2 years ago and they would have put up a fight in the final against Barca but ultimately would have lost an exciting game and not the lambs to the slaughter performance we saw, Rooney aboslutely no heart for the United shirt walking around, whata joke. We would have done better.. BECAUSE our team worked as a unit from front to back and have no dead weight when defending BECAUSE we could adapt BECAUSE we were three down against Milan and yes they thought it was over, but OUR players didn't and you gotta admire than after such a first half drubbing by milan BECAUSE our manager knows what it is like to play these games has known what it is like to play and manage at the same time and win a title to boot. There are many reasons why liverpool would have given a better account of themselves against barca last night. Arguably there are also many reasons why we might have got slaughtered just like ye did, but I will say, Liverpool do finals.
You may have won in a one off game (though then again so could most top flight teams) but you have to qualify for the Champions League in the first place. Barca won't be losing too much sleep over meeting Liverpool in any finals in the next season or two.
Totally agree on that one except for we beat them twice at the Nou though they may have a little apprehension because the last time they met us we put them out, a little apprehension i said we have been in two recentish finals too, where as if they draw united they pretty much have no apprehension at all about playing ye, skill tactical passion determination they won in every department last night WITHout all the promised play acting, cleanest final ever though united were not tackling, really if ye had put in a shift ye would have had more bookings
We may not have been in the final, but we have the players to do to them what they did to you. Rooneys dropping off did work to some extent and his hustling did work,However what you need to compliment that is two things which is plainly obvious to most people that aren't braindead so that doesn't include Man United fans. Its intelligence and skill.Luis Suarez would have put in the shift that Rooney did,However Suarez has both the intelligence and the skill to do what Rooney couldn't.You may not like this assessment but Suarez is Rooney with skill.Rooney is an over-rated clogger and last night proved it.
we have proved each time we get to a final we more often than not win it,we may off lost to ac in 07 and juventus in 85,but we have won it more than lost it,so you cant deny that!!!!!!
I doubt anyone would of beat that Barca, they are pretty unbeatable. Yeah, Arsenal beat them at home, maybe a one-off day with all the chances they missed. You doubt Barca would have a one-off day in the CL final, so I think you would of got thrashed just as much as Man Utd did.
