After today's result, my belief is BACK. As Wenger says, we need a good win for the belief, well if the belief is back in me, then it sure as hell should be back with the players. We just beat one of the best teams in Europe (I'd say Bayern are really on par with Barca), away from home, AND kept a clean sheet, I don't think any other team would be capable of doing that against Munich at their own ground. That alone should lift the players, but what was also very good about this game is it rekindles our hunger to be in the UCL, yeah it's all good saying we must quality etc, it's just like a routine, but when you taste victory against a European power, it makes you say WOW, I WANT THAT AGAIN! So that should give the players even more incentive to finish in that top 4, they've tasted some success in the competition by beating Munich, by being so close to progressing, so it should make them push harder to get that fix again. As for the performance, our defence was the standout, the whole back 5 can be proud, our defence has been so wobbly in recent times, but we saw great stand out performances from returning players, Gibbs, Jenkinson, Kosh, and FABIANSKI, who'd have thought this guy was making his season debut? I personally would stick with Fabianski, keeping a clean sheet in an away victory to Munich is more than deserving to cement your place in the next game.
Jesus, I had to double check it was you that actually posted this A87, thought I was seeing thing lol
I'm looking forward to Saturday's game now, though there are no ****ing train seats on the 8 45, 9 45, and 10 45 trains! And no damn seats available on the Arsenal coach!!!!! I don't know if I should just take the train and sit on the floor, or take the 7:45 am train and reach at 11, and just go shag some sheeps in the spare time.
I think I'm the happiest one on here today! Yeah, we didn't go through, but we beat BAYERN MUNICH 2-0 away from home, that's ****ing immense, **** qualifying, that in itself is an amazing feat. We are equal to Bayern, 3-3. :-D
It's all about the defence, that's the most important thing we need to take out from this game. I hope they watch the game again and see how they defended, because we now have a blueprint to learn from.
What we didn't keep doing, was playing that stupid high line, when we just sit back and keep our shape, Bayern couldn't do much, they'd need to resort to something spectacular to score, as Gary Neville said. That's why they even had so many shots from outside the box. There was only 1 play when they managed to run in behind us with Robben, but Jenko recovered greatly and Fabianski made a good save.
Will be good to have Sagna and Podolski back too. Meanwhile, Arsene has some big decisions to make: Gibbs or Monreal? TV or Kos? Ches or Fabianski?
Monreal for Gibbs, Gibbs has just come back from injury, so I think it'd be too much to play 2 games in 2 days. Kos for TV, worked very good with Merte today, had a solid performance and grabbed a goal, so don't think he should be dropped for TV who's been poor recently, had a very poor performance vs Spurs. Fabianski for Shez, Fabianski had a good game, looked confident and really up for it, I think he's really motivated to show his worth, so would stick with him for the next game. Shez just like TV, has been average for most of the season, sad really, if Shez and TV played to the standards we expected of them, and what they'd produced in the past, we probably would've found ourselves in a better position than we currently are.
Fab has earned a starting place with that performance and I think it will make Ches work harder to regain it
Absolutley. Kos over Verm for now definitely. Gibbs earnt a starting place. Fabianski over Ches until he should be dropped. For me the big question is Jenks or Sagna. Jenks has been good on a run all season, does he deserve to keep his place now?
Watched the game last night and tbh before the game I thought Bayern would destroy you and win with ease. You did very well and hats off. Bayern are a very tough side to play and you nullified them last night. It's a good feeling to be able to do that in their own back yard I think that your match against Swansea is huge. You lose and we beat West Ham then we are 8 points ahead of you. Swansea are no mugs at all and I think it will be a draw but if you win, there is no way that you are ruled out of the running for a top 4 place. Big big weekend this. Well played last night... Thought Fabianski was a brilliant
It's one game. We're also very inconsistent. I'm not getting my hopes up yet. I said Kos was coming back to form, and this proved it. Vermaelen has to stay on the bench. Szczesny too. When we let form decide who plays, we win.
Now Now Cym, let's celebrate some positivity on the board!! I tried to give 87 some positive Rep, but apparently I need to spread it around more. Someone impress me quick!
