I want to take this opportunity to apologise for making the Swans lose on Wednesday night. As I was thinking about it this morning, it just dawned on me that it wasn't the amateur defending or the incorrect offside calls that cost us points, it was the absence of these...

Yes. My lucky match day socks. These are the same socks I wore when we won 2-1 at Old Trafford last season. The same socks I wore when we won 2-1 at Newcastle at the end of last season. These socks aren't a gimmick, they're actually lucky! Somehow, I forgot about them after all this time, but I found them slumped at the back of my sock draw the week before the Southampton game...

Proudly pulling them onto my feet on that Saturday morning, I swear I could feel the tingles going up through my legs. It was either the magic of the socks, or just because they're a bit tight these days. But, on reflection, it must have been the magic because Shelvey slammed in a 30-yard screamer for a 1-0 away win that day - coming at the end of a week that a lot of Swans fans were desperately scratching our heads as to how we'd obtain another point for the rest of the season.

I wore them the following week too when we drew 1-1 with Sunderland. I've put that down to the fact that we probably almost used up all the magic away at Southampton - that really was a tough game - leading me to the conclusion that they must take longer than a week to recharge, these are Swans socks after all! 4 points in 2 games when prior to them some felt like we'd never win again, I couldn't really ask for much more from my socks. Good socks.

Next up, West Brom. Those pesky mid-week games really throw me off my schedule, and unfortunately, I forgot to put them on. What happened? We put in a diabolical performance and lost 2-0. "Never again", I thought to myself. Somehow, I'd have to find a way to remember to put on these socks in time for the next mid-week game, recharged or not.

With a Saturday off, the socks got plenty of time to recharge their magic back to full power, and with big boys Manchester United coming to town, boy, would we need it! Well, as sure as death and taxes, the socks came through and led us to an incredible deserved comeback victory. It must be getting pretty clear to you by now that these are no ordinary socks, these things work!

With a trip to Burnley rolling around a week later, it gave me plenty of time to get the socks through the laundry cycle and primed for Saturday morning. There was no way that these socks weren't going to grace my baby soft...I mean...rugged, manly, hairy feet that cold, Saturday morning. One week may not be enough to fully recharge these socks, but it was just enough to scrape a 1-0 victory over our struggling rivals. Maybe we'd have struggled to pull through against a team in the top half of the table, but despite riding our luck at times, the socks put Burnley to the sword.

And there, my memory runs dry. With another mid-week game coming up, I was once again thrown from my schedule and kind of forgot about getting my socks washed and prepared. Alright, my socks were hardly going to be recharged enough in half a week to spur us onto victory at White Hart Lane, but it could have given us an edge. The boys put in an admirable display considering that no magic emanated from my feet this Wednesday, but those socks could have been the difference between Lloris making that unbelievable last ditch save at the death, or Lloris tripping on his untied boot-lace and watching the ball trundle over the line...

After the West Brom game, I said, "Never again". I let it happen again, and for that I apologise. But I urge all Swans supporters to get a pair of lucky match day socks and wear them every game. Don't be a non-believer. Help your team. Two half-charged lucky match day socks are as good as one fully charged. Together, we will help Swansea become the best team in the world. #Believe

P.S. Fair play to Monk for somehow managing to pick up points and keep us in the top half of the table all season despite me not wearing my socks. Credit where credit's due.

Just be thankful I didn't take a picture of my lucky match day underwear. ;) This forum, or the Internet for that matter, isn't ready for that!

    Just as an update...

I got a last minute call to go to the Liverpool game, wore two pairs of socks as it was freezing, but in my rush to get ready, I obviously forgot the lucky match day socks. We lost.

I wore the lucky match day socks on Saturday, we won.

This is even starting to spook me out.
