I am confident that a billionaire will take us over in the next 5 years.

Either Usmanov or another one. Similar to the Man City owners, why?

    1) We are pretty much financially gods.

    2) The infrastructure is already there. We already have a world class stadium.

    3) Already a brand name (not on the scale of Liverpool or United, but top 20 in the world at least).

So, if things don't pick up, relax guys. We'll be saved.

I like the self sustaining model we have at the moment.

    Yep, me too.
How much fun can it be standing in a pub telling all your mates that Arsenal are the best team in the country after just spending £300m in the transfer window.
    Shallow, plastic etc etc etc

Probably more fun than saying, "yeah we came fourth AGAIN and half of our best players look likely to leave but if Wenger signs 2-3 top class players this summer we should challenge next time round"

Usmanov is now Russia's second richest man and worth more than even Abrahmovic.

I'd get very little from winning that way Bear, think I prefer our current business model and know that our long term security is assured when others are always vulnerable to their sugar daddies getting bored/nicked/assasinated etc

But we wont win anything the way we are currently operating.

The club is in a weaker position than it has been for many years due to its overtly conservative approach to business.

    1. Selling Club. Our 'stock' has gone down we are no longer seen as one of Europe's super powers due to the fact we cant/wont keep our star players.
That does'nt show ambition it shows a desire to make a quick buck.
This also means that our 'pulling power' has gone down considerably.

    2. We dont land our transfer targets.
10-15 years ago we were kings of the transfer market snapping up potentially world class stars before anyone else.
Now we consistantly fail to land our primary targets and have not adapted to the changing market.

The clubs strategy may be more ethical than the way City/Chelsea etc.. do business and it may (or may not) be more secure but when we're not even challenging for trophies we can hardly say its working.

If it was up to me, i'd give our current system another year or 2 unless theres some sort of huge problem in which we desperately need help

We've got 130 mil debt left, a season or 2 and that's hopefully gone, then we can really see what we can do/should be

we pay i think between 20 and 50 mill a season to the debt, then get between 50 and 100 mil profit each season, so we could have about 50+ mil a season to spend!
