Jesus Christ. Why do we ****ing hoof the ball and give it straight back to the opponent when trying to see out a game. <wah>

So happy we got the win, we were tested 100% and the pen was unlucky. Next to no contact, but I see why it was given.

Our new players made good first impressions, especially Sissoko.

    Ratings -

Krul - 9 - Absolutely outstanding. I know a lot of people will choose Sissoko, but Krul kept us in that game. Superb saves and fantastic reactions and handling.

Debuchy - 6.5 - Great first half, was run ragged second half, but so was our entire defence. Villa were playing 4-2-4 and all attacking.

Saylor - 7 - Good return. His heading is miles better than Willos, and it's good to see the partnership back. Colo + Saylor = Sexual.

Colo - 7.5 - Calm and composed, and made some vital challenges.

Santon - 6.5 - Good first half, unlucky not to score. Was raped second half, but managed to do quite well still.

Jonas - 3.5 - Apart from winning some freekicks and a block on the line, he was ****. Honestly don't know why he stays on.

Cabaye - 7.5 - Fantastic goal, and worked very hard throughout the game.

    Perch - 6.5 - Good work.

Sissoko - 8 - BEAST!! Superb pass to assist Cisse. He has great strength and pace. He's going to be a real threat for us. I thought he'd be playing in a more defensive role, but to be honest, I would have played him more advanced when I heard we signed him also. His physical threat is too much to be kept back in front of the defence like Tiote.

Gouffran - 6 - Not fantastic, but he showed good promise. He did his job well, worked hard, and he got into some great positions.

Cisse - 6 - Great goal, but didn't do anything else.

Anita - 6.5 - Had the right idea when he tried to see the game out by keeping the ball. Pardew, take notes!!!! Anita is more tactically astute than you!

MOTM - Krul for me. Sissoko was class, but Krul was ****ing unbelievable. I would let him have me.

Overall - It's clear why we drop points away. We give away too much possession late on, and don't know how to close games out!

But I'm not gonna be negative. SEXUAL WIN!!!

Jonas became a real liability. regardless of how he was playing it doesn't take an idiot to see when someones lost their head. Really thought he was going to get sent off.

Krul - 8 - Solid goalkeeping work a lot of the time, and 2 very good saves. Good work.
Debuchy - 4.5 - Ok for a lot of the game, not great or woeful, but that mistake for the penalty was stupid. Gabriel was running away from goal.
Saylor - 7 - Played sensibly and was better than Colo.
Colo - 5.5 - Better than Willo, but I thought he didn't really handle Benteke that well.
Santon - 6 - Decent, but still getting caught out of position with regularity.
Jonas - 3 - Why he stayed on I'll never know
Cabaye - 7.5 - Mostly classy. Wonderful goal!
Perch - 5.5 - Didn't really help much when we actually needed him.
Sissoko - 8.5 - Diminished from 9.5 first half, but he really is invincible.
Gouffran - 6 - Decent, did a couple of good things, and not really anything that you'd give him stick for.
Cisse - 7 - Good finish, smart runs, tracked back and worked hard all game.
Anita - 5 - Came on, did Okish, but gave the ball away a couple of times, and shot from 30 yards when possession was the right option.

Tash you forgot to give Willo your usual "he's Willo stop picking on him" 7!!! Disappointed. Best game he's played for us as well!!!;)

I was expecting Jonas to get sent off, he really lost the plot, I am surprised there were no serious injuries tonight.

Jesus Christ why do they do it to us.Anyway a vital 3 points and if ever there was a game of 2 half's that was it is.
Jonas has been ****e for a bout a season and a half now **** knows why Pardew keeps playing him.The new lads did well considering they were thrust into a away day relegation scrap...Bring on Chelsea now .I have a feeling we can do them.

Jonas playing needs a dedicated thread for discussion alone.

Sissoko and Gouffran are looking decent, Mbiwa had his first game out of the way, despite him not playing well, we know all about poor debuts turning out decent.

I really hate to see Shola taking over as the central striker over Cisse, unlike some of you guys who think Cisse is ****e. We gotta discuss that too, since I think Cisse brings so much more to the table than Shola.

The concept of bringing on Shola was to hold the ball up and attempt to get some possession. Shola can often be quite good at making a game die of boredom.

To be fair, he did bring down a few long punts and find a black and white shirt, but most of the time the ball was just punted nowhere near him aimlessly up the pitch

Big fan of Colo but I thought Saylor was much better last night, much more vociferous too.

    PS:

Whatever Pards and the lads do at half time, they should stop.

Agree....But any theory of this is disproved the moment Alan Pardew decided to play Shola at centreback......

And we even had Mbiwa on the pitch and he still palyed Shola at CB.

Can anyone offer a valid explanation?

    Yes, but it doesn't work!

Most of the time he doesn't win the header or fails to control it. We should just pass it, and try to get a few players up the pitch near the enemy corner flags.
