Really gutted there’s no game this weekend. Club are in a great spot and looking to simply move onwards and upwards. Hopefully the momentum stays with us after the international break!

Me too. What a tough game it would’ve been against Sheff Wed but imagine if we came away from that one with a result? Huge. 3 of our next 4 in the league are at home (Accrington, Bolton and Cheltenham). What a chance we’ve got to stay right up there in the top 2.

Detest international weekends for that very reason, having a blank Saturday is just wrong.
We usually have a poor result after such breaks so here's hoping that we can put that one to bed next week.

Thankfully very few teams can win points this weekend.

We could still be top going into the Accrington game which should mean we end the game top ...

... I'm sure Johnson will use this 'free' time well.

I’ve thought for a long time that these breaks have never given us the benefit of “time off” , “players back from injury “ , “time to work on” effect— maybe the resuming poor results were just because we were simply continuing to be poor . Hopefully this time we can resume with continuing to be good !

I'm gutted too, just got over norovirus which was brutal and caught gastroenteritis just in time to prevent the kids being borrowed by their nan for a few days to give us a very rare break.

I don't mind the break from the footy so much this time, I think there actually is a plan in place on the training ground and the new lads will benefit from having the time to understand it. I can't wait to see them all in action though gives you that kid in a sweet shop feeling doesn't it.

I also expect us to be well up for it when we do return which I wouldn't usually say.

I can see Oxford going above us Saturday, but that won’t be for long. <cool>

The one good thing is that the new players have more time to get used to team mates and surroundings

Apart from pre season it will be the biggest chunk of time he will have had with the bulk of the squad. Last season was all game/recovery/game etc. It will be good for the German lads to have this settling in period and the new lads who haven't been called up. Even if they just familiarise themselves with the NE a bit more.

I’d be surprised if we didn’t.

Brutal, hope you are feeling a bit better now marra, though I guess you're going to feel a bit rough for a while after that double dose.

Which got me thinking, did Hoffmann and Dajaku have to go through a quarantine period before signing for us?

I hate this international break - just when we're all excited about the team playing some good football then we end up sitting and twiddling our thumbs.

Still, it is better than the Covid-19 break we had last season and, as others have said, it gives us a chance to bed in the new signings.
