Sunday at ten past eleven a.m
    The ground´s filling rapidly up,
Canaries are in just as good voice as them
Those Scousers, eyeing up the cup,
    Bubbling with anticipation and fear
The City fans hope for the best,
Knowing that if they could take something here
It would put some wind up the rest,
Liverpool fans too behind the broad smiles
Won´t settle even for a draw,
Up early to travel down all those miles
Three points is what they have come for,
But with Chelsea FC hard on their tail
They know that any slip won´t do,
And although they´ve had mighty wind in their sails
They still may just not see it through

    Adams decided on 4-2-3-1
And with Yobo out with a strain,
The same back four were asked to get the job done
As started in the Fulham game,
Tettey and Johnson would sit just in there
To disrupt the Reds in their play,
While supporting Wolfswinkel was Leroy Fer
Waiting if a chance came his way,
Snodgrass and Redmond made up the eleven
On whose shoulders much would depend,
Whether we´d be nearer to hell or heaven
By the time this battle should end,
Sturridge and Henderson were missing too
So Liverpool weren´t at full power,
Everyone realised I think, we were due
For a tense one and a half hour

Early exchanges proved nothing much yet
    No-one taking the upper hand,
But already Sterling´s pace was causing sweat
To Olsson and fans in the stand,
Luckily his final ball wasn´t good
And Ruddy was alive and alert,
And he was there taking everything he should
Ahead of those in a red shirt,
As the half progressed one could sense belief
Was just seeping into our lads,
That maybe we could end up causing mischief
    By taking a real smash-and-grab,
Nought-nought at half time after solid fight
    With Suarez surprisingly quiet,
But if they did start the second half bright
The fear was he would have a riot

When the ancient Marriner started things going
    Again, after the half-time break,
Suddenly City were first to be showing
    Without making Mignolet shake,
Stalemate still after the hour came and went
With both sides pondering a change,
Hooper replacing the wolf, and hell-bent
    On hopefully finding his range,
Suddenly there were two penalty scares
Both of which involved Suarez L,
The first where he took Turner unawares
    But neither got Marriner´s yell,
More changes late on with time running out
    Saw Hoolahan given a run,
And quick thinking saw him turn Skrtel about
For Hooper´s shot, straight from a gun,
Into the corner it went like a dream
With eight minutes only to play,
We knew each one of those eight would seem
Almost as long as a day,
But finally Marriner said that was it
    After a real nail-biting finale,
The players to a man showed real fight and grit
And deserved their after match ale.

Please excuse my fantasizing, but you really never know. OTBC
