"I have got two special places in my heart," the 39-year-old told Bild.

"I was born in Finland and there the job as the national team coach is the biggest job. Liverpool is the other place in my heart.

"I don’t want to say that’s my goal, but after the 10 years I played there it would be a dream to one day be the Liverpool manager."

Yeah he's really going to stop managing at a champions league club to become assistant manager at a team with no european football <whistle>

Hmmm, I remember reading an interview about a month ago, when Leverkusen were facing Utd, which mentioned that Hyypia had no love lost for Liverpool or the people here. Obviously reading this is a lot nicer.

Think he's missing his co-manager this season (apparently).

Think it'll happen at some point though, with Stevie on the bench in some role too.

It's always a dream to have a fans favourite ex player come back and manage the team to success. Doesn't happen all that often though. Happy enough with BR at the moment and who knows if things go well, he could be the manager for the next 10+ years anyway.

wasn't he offered a coaching role by Kenny or br anyway just before he retired from football?

would be nice to have him back one day sure, as already stated I'm happy with Rodgers and the team direction as it is now.

  11. Think he was offered a coaching role by Rafa but he wanted to play still so left. He was player-coach at Leverkusen before becoming manager I think?
