Hysteria alert: Koeman has exit clause

Koeman (when pressed in an interview about the Barcelona job) admitted he has an exit clause in his contract at Southampton.

 

I wouldn't worry too much. He has shown that he is true to his word at Feyenoord, and I expect him to be here for 3 years. He emphasises 3 years so not expecting longer than that and I am sure that when he does go, a more than capable replacement will be found, especially if we have been in the champions league.

 

He's not going anywhere.

 

Sounds to me that he has a break clause at the end of the three years? (Although that break clause would be the contract running out, mind you!)

 

It would be incredibly ignorant for us to write off the potential of him leaving us for Barcelona.

Close to no chance of anything happening before the end of the season. In the summer though who knows.

 

A small part of me would giggle if when the time comes for him to part company that, if it is Barca, I can imagine a certain Argentinian has thrown his hat in the ring and he then dipped out to Ronald based on the direct comparison of their performances at Saints

 

I'm going to write it off because, even though he is big fish to us, he's a minnow for Barcelona. Yes, he has history - but to get the job he'll need a presidential candidate to run with him and then that candidate will have to win. The chances are slim to none.

Also, what's the point in worrying?

He's not a minnow for Barca. I don't buy that at all I'm afraid. Who has a bigger reputation combined with the emotional history with Barca than Ron?

I can't see them putting him at the top of their wish list. We'll see. I'd be willing to bet big money he will not be the next Barcelona manager.

 

I can definitely see him as one of the presidential election promises. He's massively loved in Barca.

 

Maybe he'll be there next season in the away dugout

 

If we could attract Koeman when we were 8th, imagine who we could attract with EL, CL and top 6/4 finishes (albeit Koeman has done better for us than was expecte).

 

Hysteria..? Not even close. I'll lift an eyelid.

 

I would imagine the exit clause is a normal one with price set up front...like the 2 mill we trousered when Mauricio left for Spurs...it won't be specific in the sense of if Barcelona or Holland come calling. RK is known to be honourable about contracts. He is making the team his own and I feel sure he would regard us as an unfinished job if he left too soon after arrival. The Champions' League title would be a nice way to finish.

 

I'd be surprised if Koeman didn't manage Barcelona some day. Not for a couple of years though. I used to think that Potty would too providing he stayed with Saints to prove that he was worthy. I have always thought Spurs was a backward step in many ways regardless of their history and resources.

 

Every manager we have had has been an improvement on the one before....who would we get next We'd need a whole new league just for Saints.
