Wilson. Then Miggy. Then ASM. Then Schar........last out of the full squad and u23 and u18 and the bairns is Hendrick.
Same is true of music. Bach and Rachmaninoff just couldn't compete with the virtousity of Boyzone or Rihanna today.
Almiron. His pace and general effort 100% of the time would be the difference. Wilson would be best back against the weaker teams but with no support in the bigger games he'd be anonymous whereas Almiron would cause all teams an issue. Schar - problem is scoring so he won't help ASM- again could help against the weaker teams but the better teams would hound him out Green - too old and past it now like a lot of posters on this forum
Not old enough to remember Tony Green, but he's universally regarded as a genius. It's gotta be Wilson, even if he's having a bad game he can still get a goal, and he allows Joey to play in his best position.
Wilson WILL get goals - just hope he is not rushed back - he will be the difference in the run in after the international break.
Only difference is this is football and today's footballers are athletes... The players of yesterday wouldn't be upto it... Sport is always developing.. Hence why world records get broken... Every tiny detail is exploited.
You're quite right, of course. Who knows which players of the past would prosper today. Terry Hibbitt, who looked like a survivor from Blood Island and smoked a packet a day? Hardly an athlete, but his passing and crossing were sublime. Tony Green would certainly have prospered as he was a player for all ages. The knee injury that ended his career would have been a 2-month lay-off today...
