I was so looking forward to our third successive clean sheet and would have obviously taken 1-0 all day long. Winning must always come first but what would you prefer to see, us win our next two games both 1-0 or our next two 4-2 and say 3-1? One set of results gives us two more clean sheets the other a better goal average by an extra +2 At the end of the season goal difference might be very important but for me at the moment clean sheets are what I would hope for, mainly because I would prefer teams playing us to drop their heads when going behind not think "hang on, this lot always concede we can pull this back"...
The 4-2 and 3-1 are almost inevitable for us this season. We normally have to score at least 2 to win. 3-1 would be counted as a good result any time.
Its got to be goals...as long as we score more than them ! GD will most likely be important at end of season. Confidence at being able to score will build up team spirit as much as winning. I still fear that defence will be our downfall as well as about 12 other teams all with the same idea. Its going to be a tough league to get out of this year. Here's hoping. Southampton opening up a gap at the top puts a damper on one of the top spots. Lots of tough games for all to win and lose lots of points. 2 points average per game would be a handy run up to end of year.!!.. and with lots of goals.
i really cannot see southampton getting promoted this year let alone getting an auto spot. I still think they'll finish 6th or 7th. Back to the original question, i would prefer to watch 4-2 and 3-1 games than 1-0 to be honest. Could i choose a 2-0 option??
I guess 1-0 and you can't relax, look at the Coventry game. I would like to see another couple of clean sheets in our next 4 games, you just have a feeling opposing teams are playing us and expecting to score so if it is 0-0 or if we are 1-0 up in the first half you know they (opponents) are going to come out fancying their chances in the second.
Better still go two or three goals up by half time & close the game out second half, letting the opposition come on to us & hitting them on the counter attack. Trouble is,though O'Dea scored against Coventry I still don't think he's good enough. Would rather see Kisnorbo or Bromby alongside Lees.
Im not been funny but Lees and Odea had sweet FA to do tuesday! They should have had 3 clean sheets on the bounce but lets face it they didnt have to work against the 3 teams, I think we will see how good they are when they come up against better competition
