Following on from a conversation I was having on Twitter last night. If we could keep one of McNally or Lambert for as long we wanted them, who would you choose and why?
tough one... i think being realistic, i'd have to go for mcnally. the reason for this is because i trust him 100% to replace lambert with another up and coming, exciting young manager. we won't keep lambert forever, though i can still see him being here if we go down, but inevitably he will leave at some point for bigger and better things. i just hope mcnally doesn't.
Hmmmm the question could be compared to: would you prefer to shoot yourself in your right foot or left foot!? Neither of them are that apppealing!! But, I have to agree with everything Superman has said. McNally was the man that firstly fixed our ship and then sent it sailing back to the prem!!
As you say Carra, hypothetical question, hope it never has to be answered, but in this particular case, definitely McNally, Lambert can be replaced, I´m not sure McNally can.
I must be the only City fan who would prefer to keep Lambert. McNally is the best Chief Exec we've had in donkey's years. However, I think after the utter tripe that has gone before him, we are treating him like the best Chief Exec in the land. There are others out there that could easily replicate the work McNally is doing, surely???
The question is comparable to would you prefer to hack off with a rusty swiss army knife? A your cock or B your gonads
McNally for me definately. As good as a manager is, there almost always comes a point where he has taken the team as far as he can. (notable exceptions being Fergie and Moyes). Look at Worthy for instance.... I'm with Super, as long as McNally is here I feel we will appoint the right kind of manager.
That is an absolutely mental question. McNally and Lambert sort of riff together nicely together. McNally takes care of everything off field, Lambert on Field. No-one interferes with eachothers responsibility. Take yesterday with the fake Holt Story. Nipped in the bud and completely nullified within hours of it occurring. McNally is ruthless and he takes no **** from anybody. Racist Comments of twitter. McNally BAM Banned! No hesitation, no chance for it to grow or damage the club. nipped in the bud perfectly Then on the other hand you have Paul Lambert, who is clearly God. I refuse to choose sir, I'm sorry, I just can't!
I was going to say Lambert because, while I accept what was said earlier about managers going stale at a club, I really think Lambo and City can grow together very happily. He's made (as far as I can think) no mistakes during his time here at all, and on a small budget, he's worked wonders. Exactly how many unpolished diamonds are there in the lower leagues? There's also the fact that quality managers don't grow on trees. But, I've got to go for McNally. Think back to the Col who situation (or Gunn leading up to it), properly hard nosed. He sees what's best for the club, and does it. Probably fair to say, no McNally, no Lambert. What a combination those two are though!
OMG that is such a tough question. But I'd have to say Lambert . Mcnally provides the means, but Lambert still provides the inspiration to make it all come together where it really matters - on the pitch so for me from now on it's gotta be IMWT, ILWHTB and OTBC
Damn you to Hell, Carra! How will I sleep at night worrying over your question? To me, it's the chicken and egg situation, or, as ol' blue eyes said "Love and marriage! You can't have one without the other!"
I think all that I would say has been said. I would go for keeping McNally. No Lambert and we have got a chief executive capable of finding a very good manager as a replacement. But do we have the people capable of finding a great chief executive. Another thought, how much of what has happened is down to the chairman, Bowcett? McNally may just be getting the praise as he is the one who talks to the media. But without a doubt what has happened under these 3 has been amazing. The best couple of years for Norwich in my life time. Maybe even on par with the one or two years leading up to Munich.
Once the rubbish was gone. But I mean now under the new board. Also, look at who the old board brought in before McNally came along. Without him the board may have been too scared to sack gunn, the money may have not been offered to the manager and we would still be in league 1. Without McNally there may have been no Lambert and there may be no Premier league. I'm pretty much repeating what people have said but these two are brilliant at what they do.
