I imagine these days when Huw talks ( seems to be a rarity ) , people are starting to lean in around football circles & listen . Players want to stay at the club , players have no problem coming to the club & money's never an issue . It's getting surreal as this season begins to close & what a season it's being .. well done Mr. Jenkins ( and the board )

If we put enough money down I think we could get Caulker. He's down on their depth chart. Who knows what other players they have in their pipeline that they might value more than him. To play Caulker they would have to sit senior players. It is probably unlikely, but you never know how Spurs might calculate net present and future value. It's worth making an offer, sort of tongue in cheek, and seeing how they role.

Not true, unfortunately YJ. Caulker is very highly thought of at Spurs and it can't have gone unnoticed at WHL that he's made team of the week for two weeks running. They felt he needed a season's Prem football to develop and by god has he done that.

Spurs fans believe that he'll be back in the summer and at least be starting on the bench. I also believe that. On current form he may even be in their starting 11.

The best we can hope for is another year's loan I think. But I doubt it.

Berbatov is wasted at Man U. Talented striker. Can't see us going for him though. He's also 31 - but probably pretty fit.

Between them both, Caulkers defending has earned us points, Siggy's goals have earned even more points. And in the words of Bruce Forsyth, we all know what points make!!!!!!!
But really, most of us would have been happy at the start of the season with a final position of 15th to 17th.
Anyone care to add how much difference the prize fund is for finishing say 16th to finishing 10th. At about £800,000 a slot, then we make an extra £5M (give or take), so surely that could buy one of them!!!! Next years money would buy the other. They have been here, know the play, know ther players, know the financial restraints, so know they will not earn a fortune......... but they will play every week, they will play football they love, and play for a fan base that is second to none. And that is before we get into Europe!!!!
Brendan has his eyes on four players in the close season, then surely that means 4-6 could easily move out. This saves on wages, and with a bit of luck we may start selling a few. Anyone know the last three players sold by Swansea?

no more than £5 million should be spent on any player and even then they would have to be exceptional. the players we should target should be between £1 and £5 million because when you add on the wages for these players then you can add £2 million plus. We must start looking now for players who are at the end of their contract who would be worth more than £5 million if they were on a contract. an early bird catches the worm as the saying goes, with siggs i would offer the full £5 million with an extra £2 million at the end of next season depending on how he and us perform. no matter what stay within our maximum and dont go above for any reason....

Does that mean Sig is out of the picture ? . Were at a crossroads now . Do we spend 6 or 7 million on Sig ( almost what the starting lineup cost us ) because he so important to our game , or hold the financial line & find someone on the cheap & hope for the best . Tough decisions to be made .

I was under the impression that 'superswan99' was the old 'daiswan77'. I could be wrong as I haven't been on here much, but the old Dai would have send spend spend spend, tight huw needs to splash the cash.
    Just me?

I hope as Rogers hinted that Siggy stays as he fits us better than he may do elsewhere, Caulker would be a great full time addition too but less likely at the moment going by Spurs prob seen his worth rise here and not needing to sell him?

What i`m a bit concerned about is the top money clubs coming in for a few of our best players, one reason why they are consistantly at the top of the prem is they can negate any threat of lower teams rising up to challenge thier domination of the prem by decimating less wealthy teams by what to less wealthy clubs looks like silly money offers and deals turning players heads and ego`s !

One thing though Rogers has been fantastic at picking quality bargains and some great loan signings, with the larger pot available in the summer he could do some amazing buisness for us. Also does anyone know how many scouts he`s got on the books and if thier record at also finding gems is good to ?

I don't believe there is a single player in starting line up that could leave in the summer & make a bigger impact elsewhere & play most of the time . Look at Sig , couldn't get a game in Germany ! Most will beg to stay Lol

the minute you bring someone in who demands a lot more wages than the others then thats when problems will arise, there will be resentment in the dressing room that will spill out onto the field. If you keep to our wage structure and how much we pay for a player then depending on what contract they are on will keep the wages in proportion. If we cant get siggy for a maximum of £5 million...(that is the figure at which was reported as our maximum) then we have to look elsewhere. we must not make exceptions for anyone, the balance is spot on at long last and we cannot ruin it by spending £7million on siggy where he will demand a substantial increase in wages that goes with signing.

I can see us resigning Agustien plus another good value , almost out of contract midfieder so we can pay him a decent wage & take a chance and let Sig ride off into the sunset to a bright future ..... unless he's willing to give up a bit of money toward wages to keep playing where success comes easy for him . If he takes a bit of a hit on wages the first full season till the seasons over to see how we did , I think the club would be willing to break the 5,000,000 discussed by Buck .

I agree with superswan on this, a maximum of £5m for him, if he doesn't come to us on that I think we should let him go, it's not just the the £5m it's the wages to go with it, if we start paying him a significant amount other wages have to go up to match, or there is disharmony in the dressing room.
