Swansea are weighing up a move for Hungarian defender Zoltan Liptak as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his defensive options. Rodgers is in the market for a new defender due to a defensive crisis on his hands at the Liberty Stadium. The Premier League new boys are short of cover at centre-back after seeing a move for Rafik Halliche blocked by Fifa and Steven Caulker ruled out of action for two months. Rodgers admitted he was scouring the free agent market in a bid to bring in a new defender and Liptak could be his target. The 26-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving Hungarian champions Videoton last month. Liptak, who has had spells at Southend, Stevenage and Southampton in the past, has admitted he is linking up with a Premier League club for a trial, but he refused to reveal the identity of the team. Trial "I'm on trial at a Premier League club but I don't want to say anymore," Liptak told Nemzeti Sport. "I wouldn't even call it trial, I would say we try to get to know each other. "I got the chance last Saturday, I travelled there on Sunday and attend my first training on Tuesday. "There'll be a friendly game between the squad members on Wednesday and after this my future will be decided. On the weekend I may be ready to sit on the bench."
Hmmmm..... Videoton are managed by Paolo Sousa, maybe he got kicked out because he's too attack minded!

I can't say that pedigree impresses me, but we've learnt not to judge a book by it's "previous publishings", as it were If they think he's good enough, why not... Surely there are better options than this though...
Well a centre back who scores a little can't be a bad thing, plus he is quite tall which is good, but is he quality enough to step up to the premier ? He will only be temporary unless he impresses a lot, plus we are desperate.
scott you cant really go by a players pedigree,on paper last seasons signing didnt look that clever.didnt do too bad young taylor eh?
unfortunately the players we can go for are the ones that did not manage to get a club before the season started, there is not much option out there for Brendan to choose from and it looks like he is the best of the bunch. I wont judge him if he joins and will give him a chance to see what he can do....
At the moment boys beggars cant be choosers. Remember this is for cover and god knows we need this at the moment. if he is better than what we have then lets sign him, if only on a short term contract.
Ok it's been confirmed that we have taken liptak on trial http://www.swanseacity.net/page/Latest/0,,10354~2458491,00.html
Well he's been around a bit and with 10 caps must be at least half decent. Also been named in his country's team of the year. Sounds like a decent option with Caulker out for at least a couple of months. Give him a go.
With Monk teetering on being fit , I say welcome Liptak . P. S. To those who thought Monk was a semi wasted contract re signing over the summer ..... Lol !!!!.... How do like those apples !!
Nice one Cracker! From that Video, he does seem to be a decent defender. It's probably a question of making the step up, his fitness, and if he can manage tactically...But he does seem to have a bit of talent.
The Sun are reporting that we're in for Sol Campbell. True/untrue, I'm surprised it took that long for this particular rumour to come up!
Looks good in the vid, and am sure the Management team will have done their homework to get the best we can....
