Well maybe its a bit too early for that after one game, but all this time ive been laying the blame for our P***P**r performances in midfield at wellens door, prob more so than any other of the misfiring midfield, however after last nights display, minus king, maybe the true cullprit has been identified. Wellens and Danns looked pretty good together i must admit, and both Dyer and Gallagher were much improved, tho the latter still ducked out of a few tackles, but thats just being picky lol.I can only conclude that as a collective, they have had one almighty rollocking. lets hope we see more of the same on mon against the saints, only time will tell i guess, cos i will be only too pleased to hold my hands up,and say richie, i got it wrong
I will IF he proves himself in the next 4 big league games we've got coming up. I think I could have looked good in midfield last night and I'm nearly 39 and get knackered getting into the shower!
Disappointed. Thought the thread was about the 70s rock band with the legend who was Steve Marriott. Must have seen them 14-15 times. Happy days. And yes, Wellens had a fine game last night as did every City player.
I saw Wellens on Saturday and he was dreadful. Truly dreadful. He missed a sitter, he almost dropped Kasper in it with a terrible pass back, his tackling was poor and usually late and his passing was off. Whilst I'd say he was better last night, the truth is I hardly noticed him. I suppose with a player in that role that's how it should be, but I don't think he's exactly back to his old best yet. I think the improved performance last night was down to Danns - finally playing where he should be. And with the dropping of King - at least half of our out-of-sorts midfield problem was solved. I would advocate the return of Abe, but quite honestly, I think I'd prefer an off-key Wellens. Would like to have seen more of Danns and Fernandes as the middle two..
43 mins gone before I knew he was on the pitch, he did a quiet complete job, but, against Saints I fear it will not be a quite job, can he step up? We will see!
Dont get my wrong guys, im no fan of wellens, his best days are far behind him, and as you rightly point out, lord, we will see how he performs against a decent team next mon, if indeed he getst a game, tho up untill tues against forest, he had been shocking for most of the season and still didn't get dropped, so we will see..............
