I thought Hulse had a decent game when he came on today. He looks much sharper and fitter. He was chasing the ball all over the place and won a few headers which if it hadnt been for Macheda running completley the wrong way could have led to a few chances.

If we fail to add another striker in the window, we should put him in the 25 and use him as a reserve. Certainly much better than Bothroyd has done for us.

    25 would look like this:

    GK: Kenny, Cerny, Murphy

    LB: Taiwo, Hill

CB: Ferdinand, Onuoha, Gabbidon, Hall, Connolly

    RB: Young, Orr

    LM: Traore, Smith,

CM: Barton, Buzsaky, Taarabt, Derry, Diakite (presuming he signs)

    RM: Mackie, Wright-Phillips

ST: Helguson, Campbell, Bothroyd, Hulse, Macheda (under 21)

I know some have said replace Perone with Ramage, but imo we no longer need either. 5 CB's is enough and Hill can also play there. Although we do seem to be short on wingers there. So perhaps a winger signing is needed.

Hulse ahead of Bothroyd, you must be having a laugh, otherwise stay away from the sherry.

If that's what we got when the window closes we'll go down. Sorry. Def need two more class players (not including Diakite).

But I choose to read way too much into TF latest tweet:

God I love sport. I'm damm lucky. Loving QPR and can't wait to get our new Caterham on the track. I'm very excited about the future.

Think he know something we don't (<doh> of course he does), but that's a couple of quality signings he's talking about me thinks (TEVEZ?)<party>

Totally agree. When he came on I thought it was basically saying "we give up".

No, deadly serious. Bothroyd is awful and has no effort for the team. He nearly always slows the game down and runs sideways or passes backwards. As you can see, he is still in the squad. But as it stands we have no replacement target man if HH gets injured. Hulse did a decent job against a good side today.

I said the same when he came on. But he proved me wrong.

Last year I was very critical of Hulse, but he had his chance today, and imo did a decent job. Nothing special, but won a few headers which should have led to chances.

Would rather see an attacking midfielder and proper striker signed, if Hulse is in the squad we're in the brown stuff...

Agree, would rather better was signed but if it came down to it and we had one spot free, on todays showing he should have a chance.

Lets face it, Bothroyd, Campbell, and Macheda have hardly done much good. So might as well give Hulse a go.

Must be the menopause speaking, I've got mood swings like a proper biatch <whistle>

Agree re Hulse guys, can't see that he would be any worse than Bothroyd.

Think your 25 doesn't include the 3 more players we'll sign by Tues. Will make a big difference.

I feel like that tonight Norway.
I'm feeling very f**cking let down today.
    Complete lack of effort.
If Hughes didn't want to be in the cup he could of let me know.
I had to jump through feckin hoops ( no pun intended ) to get the day off work,
and then to lay out £73 ( that I don't really have ) to watch that ****e, while those feckin jokers run around on the
pitch going through the motions who earn far more in a week than I do in a year.

All that crap about 'what did we expect with the team we had out today' doesn't cut it with me.

Very understandable nines. I thought of getting plane and match tickets on short notice this week, with money I DEFINITELY don't have atm, that's how desperate I was to attend this one. Not sure what I would have done to myself if I did but I have no problem relating to your frustration.
Hard work defensively though to be fair, but a total lack of belief/willingness going forward was what angered me the most.

He doesn't want to admit that MH might not be it.

Boothroyd has never been an out and out striker. If we had someone like a Defeo, I would suggest that we would stat to see a bit more from him. DJC is obviously not 100% fit so I hope we bring someone in before close of transfer.
MH will get the strikers firing - we just need to give him time to get players in and let him get HIS team sorted and we wil be ok.

Judo: you're a great addition to the board. Have enjoyed your posts to date but clearly hadn't realised the half of it. You're so BRAVE! Stepping up as the only apologist for Hulse I've come across to date... Wow!

When I saw him coming on, I thought two things: MH putting him in the shop window desperate to get him a bit of current track record and out on loan; and please God don't let him score, it'll cost us far more than a replay against Chelsea!

So if you're the optimist on this one; and I'm the pessimist - which of us is closest to reality? No really?!!

I remember years ago loads of idiots were saying HH was the next Hately, he sure turned that around.

Hulse was miles better than Macheda and also better than Bothroyd when he came on.
Hulse could work if we have Traore and SWP on the wings with instructions to ping crosses in as he won every header when he came on.

If he kept up that performance, Id rather see him in ahead of Bothroyd.
