My mams mate used to live in High court flats back in the late 60,s early 70.s. I used to go to the school around the corner. You can see those flats from my mams house, be a bit strange at first them not been there.I never went to the last block of flats demolition and shouldnt think I,ll be going to this one. Your right in that its quite dense arond the flats with buildings etc. Are you sure there bringing them down via explosives?

Haha, "council master plan." More like master scam! It does need doing but politicians never do anything without something for themselves!

    It's just happened.

You want to see how some people will resort to parking. Idiots :p

It fell towards the houses but it's not damaged anything.

I had a flat fourteen floors up in Milldane for a couple of years. I had a four foot tropical fish tank, and when it was windy the water in it,used to sway quite violently, from one end to the other. I attended it's demolitition, and it was very impressive, in fact i started a round of applause.

What were the views like? The south facing flats (high up) must have been good for that.

The view from my front room faced the Humber bridge, which was excellent. I was lucky,as a lot of peoples views were of the block of flats opposite. I used to have a hammock stretching across my balcony in the summer, which was pretty cool.

    I love a hammock me.

    I'm a hammock sorta guy.

My last one was a six man one. It was lush. Fairtrade. Multicoloured. Woven by Bolivian peasants.

Went to get it out last summer and a bastard mouse had eaten it. Knawed holes all over it. It just fell into tiny pieces when I took it out of the bag.

    Completely ruined.

Right, I thought. I'm having that ****ing mouse.

Nobody eats my hammock and gets away with it.

    So I bought a trap.

Problem was the wife was with me and insisted that I buy a humane one.

A plastic box with a little see-saw device in it.

    Bait the box with cheese.

Brer Mouse can get in, eat the cheese, then finds himself stuck.

I could then put the little furry twat on trial for reckless destruction of a hammock.

Mouse entered trap. Ate cheese. Shat. Exited trap.

Went off to knaw a hole in a bag of the hound's kibble.

I heard a really loud bang at midday I thought it was thunder.
That was on Pelican park so it must have been very loud on OP

I was just thinking: "Hope it falls on that 'orrible John Black" and then spotted your post, Bonesy.

    Very relevant.

Discovered mice have been jollying in my greenhouse. So...set a 'Nipper' (your boss wouldn't have that, Ern). Result = dead mouse. Found another trap, so set both. Mouse in one, other not tripped. Thought I leave the burial party til next morning, but then - mouse and trap had both disappeared. Ferkin Ratty had been around....
My neighbour is an old country boy and set snares of hazel stick and pegged-down wire noose. Two strangled rats.

    Result.

    (Only 10,000,000 more to go........)

To get 6 in you had to all lie perpendicular to your normal standard hammock orientation.

Suffered from an uncomfortable degree of roll together.

Also it was nigh on impossible for any one person to get out unaided.

Which resulted in an unacceptable amount of biased negotiating.

Was never a situation from which any good would come.

Much preferred it on me own.

In the proper hammock prone style.

With a good book, a bag of pork scratchings and a glass of Pimms.

Iv'e had quite a few hammocks, i don't know why,i just like to hammock. Got to agree with Chazz though Ernest, what the **** would you want with a five man hammock ? The mouse was well within it's rights,to eat the ****er imo.

Anyway,as i seem to have landed the job of Not606 hammock consultant,i shall pass on my expertise.

Go for the cheap types, the one's that are basically,a net with a hook at each end. Do not under any circumstances go for one that comes with it's own support frame. Iv'e had one of those, and it just didn't give the same satisfaction, for me it wasn't even a hammock.

Have a look around the back garden, there must be somewhere to hang it. Apart from my 'pie in the sky' residence,on OPE the best place iv'e found,is at my current gaff. Between two sturdy old trees in the back garden,i set it up at just the right height so i can reach my bottle of Shiraz,my ***s,or my 'Alottment monthly' magazine.

There was one near disaster with this set up though... There i was dozing away to some Kinks tunes or the like, when Mz Kempton came charging down the garden screaming, "Oi yer little bastard" !

Turns out the lovely, sweet little seven year old 'Ginner' from next door, was stood on a ladder, and setting about one end of my hammock with a pair scissors.

My cat plays with mice, like cats do. If he sees a rat though... You should see the hate. Bye bye Rat.
