Match Appointments Referee: Andre Marriner. Assistants: D Bryan, M Perry. Fourth Official: P Tierney. Hull Team News Steve Bruce will hand late fitness tests to attackers Sone Aluko and Robbie Brady ahead of Saturday's clash. Brady is struggling for fitness following his hernia operation and the former continues to recover from a calf problem, while Alex Bruce (groin) and Aaron Mclean (calf) both picked up injuries during the Capital One Cup tie and add to an already lengthy injury list. Goalkeeper Allan McGregor (hip) and centre-back James Chester (hamstring) remain sidelined, while Jake Livermore returns following the double-header against parent club Tottenham but on-loan Black Cats forward Danny Graham is replaced by Yannick Sagbo. Sunderland Team News Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has no injury concerns ahead of Saturday's trip to Hull. Forward Steven Fletcher appeared unscathed despite landing awkwardly during last weekend's 2-1 derby victory against Newcastle. Midfielder David Vaughan will not feature in Poyet's squad after joining Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest on a three-month loan deal. Bruce; Hull manager Steve Bruce says taking over as Sunderland boss in 2009 was "arguably a mistake" because of his connections with rivals Newcastle. Bruce, who supported the Magpies as a youngster, was sacked by Sunderland in November 2011 after two years in charge at the Stadium of Light. Having guided Hull to the Premier League, he faces his former club for the first time on Saturday. "Looking back on it, going there was arguably a mistake," Bruce said. "Being where I'm from, being a Newcastle fan as a boy, some would never forgive that." Bruce joined the Black Cats from Wigan in the summer of 2009 and, after finishing 13th in his first season, Sunderland finished 10th in 2011. But, after a difficult start, he was sacked three months into the following campaign. Bruce, who took over as Hull manager in the summer of 2012, added: "I was desperately disappointed after finishing tenth I thought I might have got a bit more time. "It didn't happen and you move on and thankfully Hull gave me the opportunity to get back to work again. "When you get sacked you want to come back out fighting and show people what you're about." Poyet; GUS Poyet has warned his players to expect a completely different game from last weekend’s derby triumph when they face Hull City tomorrow. The Uruguayan saw the Black Cats record their first Premier League win of the season. And he has challenged them this weekend to record a long overdue first clean sheet of the Premier League campaign. Sunderland will go into tomorrow’s game still on a high after their thrilling victory over Newcastle United on Sunday but the Uruguayan says that the Wearsiders have to expect a really tricky game at the KC Stadium. “I think this game is going to be very different from the Newcastle one,” he mused. “It will be a different atmosphere, a different situation, the nerves and the emotions will be completely different. “And we need to concentrate on what we do, and pay attention to the things that will be important to maybe win the game and certainly not to lose it.” Sunderland’s game against Newcastle was an open encounter, but Poyet, pictured, sees tomorrow as much more of an attritional encounter. “You never know what might happen in a game, you never know what positions you can get in,” he acknowledged. “But I think it will be tight with maybe just the one goal in it. “I’m not expecting too many goals, we just need to look at keeping our first clean sheet – that would be amazing – and that would give us the best chance of getting a good result. “Hull have been playing five at the back away from home, and four at the back at home so that tells you that they are a team which prioritises defence. “But we need to prepare well. “Maybe it is too early in the Premier League for me at this stage, but I am a person who likes my players to go on to the football pitch in a game and not be surprised by anything. “I want them fully prepared and that is what our training is all about during the week. “They need to know how to play when their opponents are playing one system, and what to be aware of when they are playing another. “I will try to help them but it is up to them, they have to be switched on and they have to be open to little things you want them to do within the game. “We go there feeling good about ourselves though, and we go there looking for the win.” Previous Meetings Sunderland have won 7 out of the last 10 meeting with two wins for Hull and just the solitary draw. Hull have only lost two of the nine previous Premier League games they've played in November. Sunderland have gone 13 games without a Premier League clean sheet. The last manager to see his side fail to score against the Black Cats was David Moyes. What the 'Experts' Say; please log in to view this image Lawrenson; Hull have had a tough week - they were very hard done by in their defeat by Tottenham in the league last weekend, losing to a penalty that never was, then they were on the wrong end of a penalty shoot-out after doing very well again against the same opposition in the Capital One Cup in midweek. Unlike Fulham, the Tigers do not lie down. They remind me of how their manager Steve Bruce was as a player, in that they are fully committed and always have a real go. If Sunderland play like they did against Newcastle last week, then we have a real battle on our hands. I have never seen a midfield work as hard as the Black Cats did in the first half of that game - Seb Larsson, Lee Cattermole and Jack Colback were absolutely amazing at closing down the opposition. It was a good day for them - they scored early, hung on at 1-1 and then got a break for the winner at the end. I will back Gus Poyet's side to get something out of this game too, but they really need Steven Fletcher to stay fit for the next 15 or 20 games because, otherwise, I do not see where their goals are coming from. Lawro's prediction: 1-1 Merson; I like Hull. I've watched a lot of them this season and they are arguably the most organised team in the Premier League apart from Southampton. I watched them against Tottenham last week and they were very comfortable; it took a shocking decision from the referee to deny them a point and they were never going to lose that game otherwise. Sunderland had a great result in the North East derby last week, but I think Gus Poyet would take a draw if he could. I think Hull might just edge it. What the Phallus says; Lawrenson and Merson are both Arsehole Engineers!
