This forum has played a major part in bringing the group together and I felt that now is the right time to let you all know what is going on.
A small group of Hull City supporters have started this campaign. Not all members are posters from here, but all are Hull through and through. Some people have said that they will do whatever they can and others are more involved. We seem to have informal support from everyone we have spoken to.
As time goes on we will need more people to become involved, this forum is an ideal recruiting platform. We need help from those of you who have any contacts or experience that may be useful.
It is early day's and I have no doubt that the task is massive, but if we do not ask we will not get. The Original rule book has an insurance value of £2.5m, so the FA are not likely to just loan it out at the drop of a hat.

Below is part of what we plan to publish:

    HULL RULES

A campaign group with a single objective:

We wish to exhibit the original 1863 Football Association ‘Minute Book’ in Hull during the city’s year as UK City of Culture in 2017.

Bringing the Minute Book, to the city would be a fitting celebration to honour Hull born pioneer Ebenezer Cobb Morley. Recognised as the leading figure amongst the founding fathers of association football Morley became the first secretary of the F.A. and the author of the original handwritten minute book. _________________________________________________________________________

Originating from a meeting at Covent Gardens' Freemason's Arms, this book contains the first agreed, handwritten laws of the game.
    ________________________________________________________________________________

The City of Culture team has designated the first three months of 2017 as a celebration of Hull’s many and varied contributions to the world. Entitled ‘Made in Hull’ the opening quarter of the year will highlight the great ideas and great people to emerge from our city.

We feel that the achievements of Ebenezer Cobb Morley must be included in these celebrations. Displaying football’s original rule book in the place where he was born will provide a fitting platform from which to inspire and educate a generation whilst honouring the achievements of a truly pioneering Hullensian.

    Who we are

The ‘Hull Rules’ campaign group is formed of a small group of Hull City supporters and proud Hullensians.

The group is open to anyone who shares the same common aim of celebrating the works of Ebenezer Cobb Morley during the city’s spotlight year as UK City of Culture.

The group seeks not to profit from the campaign, only to generate the funds required to hosting a suitable exhibition.

    Events and challenges

We are considering using events and challenges to promote the campaign. There may also be a need to raise funding to support the exhibition of the rule book.

    Education and legacy.

We hope to produce an exhibition of value to the education partners in the city and leave a legacy of understanding, inspiration and acknowledgement.

It's a nice idea, where do you hope it will actually be exhibited?

As far as the location, it really depends on the FA's requirements. The first step was to form the group, next tell people about the campaign. Its a chicken and egg situation. Get the ok from the FA and then find a location or get a location first and then get the ok. If we have support for the idea, that increases the chance of getting the book up here. I think it will be in one of the museums rather than an independent stand alone exhibition, but who knows.

I think that it would be fine as a venue.

Ideally, it should be at the long proposed museum at the KC, it's mainly football fans that will be interested in seeing it.

Good luck with this TOM, it's a genuinely brilliant idea.

Ferens is a good idea, might get people other than footy fans looking at it, and might give some footy fans something else to see too.

I wish Chazz wasn't such a lazy bastard too.

That would be ideal. The club are aware of the campaign. All positives so far.

It may be a question of time and capability.
