Not mutually exclusive, but would you rather have a victory at Hull or in the FA Cup. Really a choice between being in the pot for the next round or maintaining the push for 8th spot (or possibly 7th). If I could choose, I would definitely go for the Cup.
Has to be the cup. If we go out of that our season is over. Haven't really been bothered about league results since the end of December I think.
At this stage I'd probably marginally favour the cup anyway, but boy do we really owe Sunderland one, whilst I have no problem with Hull gaining another 3 points (except of course that it would be at our expense). We're on a good unbeaten run at the moment and preferably I'd like to continue that through our next three games, but if offered now to lose to Hull 1-0 but beat Sunderland 3-0 I'd take it in a heartbeat.
The Baby Steps are coming along. You have actually managed to do one of the more difficult things on this forum. Linking webpages is child's play compared to this. Wish you'd put another option in though - ie. Both. I'm not giving up on a high league position finish, but one loss brings an end to one competition and the other is a setback. So, grudgingly I suppose I'll say Cup.
Didn't include 'both' because that everyone would vote for that. Glad a couple have gone for Hull...rather expected a totally one-sided poll.
No, of course I realise that. I was very, very close to deciding on Hull. I guess the general failure of the FA to ensure that the FA Cup retains its status as a competition of high value has taken its toll on my preferences. Donkey's years ago I would have said FA Cup, no question.
This is the most excited I've been about a cup match for ages......well since our jpt winning season, that was great! Hope they get battered by City so they can readjust their priorities.
I can only assume the other votes were for that reason too, unless anyone can explain a possible upside to losing against Sunderland?
I know the prestige is not what it used to be, but I also believe that the cup is what you make of it. Who doesn't dream of winning a trophy and playing at wembley? I don't think any level of deterioration can ruin what a special feeling that is. To those of you seriously voting Hull, why? We are nailed on for an 8th or 9th finish bar some huge miracle/fail. Also for pride sake it would be nice to beat Sunderland at the 4th attempt.
I would quite happily do that! I still think the idea of playing semi at Wembley is daft. My visit to Villa Park in 2003 is one of my favourite ever matches.
