MailOnline Sport @MailSport 3m3 minutes ago BREAKING: Hull midfielder Jake Livermore set to escape FA ban despite testing positive for cocaine
In the spirit of compassion and understanding, and on the basis they don't need much reason to screw players over, this could be good news for him and us.
Well surely if he's not banned it mustve been, as some alluded, to being a ridiculously low amount. I wonder how his head will be after Bruce admitted he'd not contacted him for yonks? Was it a bit 'guilty until proven innocent'?
Good news for us and Jake. The circumstances surrounding his drug test and banning are without doubt profoundly sad. However, he's still taken a known banned substance. Whilst he's had a 'ban' in effect whilst he's been waiting for the outcome - I still think he should be made to do some type of community service (above and beyond his normal obligations through the club). Footballers are very fortunate in terms of the financial rewards and lifestyle that comes from being a footballer.
I'm glad for him that he's not banned, wasn't until today that I realised the inquest had directly preceded the incident, he should still be made to do some community programme as punishment though, I do agree with that. Hope the poor guys head is right and he can overcome what must be the most harrowing experience. Sucks for Palacios though, no chance of a contract now i'd have thought
I can't see Bruce not contacting him at all during his ban, but if this is the case maybe Livermore will want a fresh start with a new club. I hope not, i hope he re-pays the clubs loyalty, get his head down and help us storm this league. TWT as always. Is Bruce making any comment at all regarding Livermore fitness and as to when he might be available for selection. with Jake and Snodgrass back in the fold it surely makes for an exciting season.
It was a daft thing to do, but given the mitigating circumstances and what sounds like a very low sample I'm glad he has avoided a ban. Hope he has learnt his lesson and gets his head together now. He has a sympathetic second chance and I hope he takes full advantage - for the team and himself.
Now the circumstances surrounding the case are public, I'd hope Bruce will change his tune. He's a good guy, I'm sure he will but at the time, much like the rest of us he couldn't feel any sympathy for Livermore. With support from City & a fresh slate of physical and mental health, Livermore could be a very good player one more. It may take a while though We need to get behind Livermore now
Perhaps Livermore has expressed no desire to play this season? Might have had some bearing. Either way, his fitness levels will be way down unless he's been training despite the ban.
it wasnt a performance enhancing drug, so I cant see the problem.. maybe someone that plays FIFA2015 can tell me if it has affected his playing.
If he does decide he wants a fresh start somewhere else at least we'll get a few quid for him. Can't see anyone paying more than 3 million for him so it'll be a big loss considering we paid 8, or at least I think it was 8. Better than sweet FA though. I really hope he stays, it's a long hard season and he'd be quality in this league if his head was in the right place.
