    Hull City

Hull City are waiting as long as possible to see if Nathan Baxter will be fit enough to take his place in the squad vs the Seasiders after rolling his ankle in training a few weeks ago. The goalkeeper hasn't featured for City since the 2-1 home reverse to Reading and with Matt Ingram returning to the side and putting in two decent performances in City's mini-unbeaten run, he faces not only a fight against time to make the squad, but a fight against City's number 1 to make the starting XI.

Alfie Jones should return after falling ill right before the 1-1 draw against Sunderland. Jones was due to start but his illness got the better of him and he watched on from the stands instead as Cyrus Christie moved into centre half and Lewie Coyle took up his natural position at RB.

Australian international Callum Elder could return to the squad after his nation's World Cup exploits, which he watched from his front room for the last two months.

Baxter aside, City have no new injury concerns. Allahyar Sayaadmanesh could be fit enough to make the bench against Birmingham on New Year's Eve Eve after coming through the Xmas period of training unscathed. Benji Tetteh remains close behind him in terms of fitness, but the FA Cup match against Fulham might be more realistic for him. Adama Traore is back on the grass and nearing a return to nearing a return to almost getting to fullish fitness, but Salah M'Hand remains restricted to light training on the grass having returned to Arsenal for treatment and getting lost somewhere on the M1 for three months. Nobody knows what's going on with Brandon Fleming, last seen getting into a car with Lord Lucan.

Probable City starting XI (4-2-3-1): Ingram, Christie, Jones, Figuereido, Greaves (c), Seri, Woods, Longman, Slater, Tufan, Estupinan.

    Blackpool

Blackpool could be without up to six first team players as boss Michael Appleton fights an injury crisis in their relegation battle.

First choice goalkeeper Chris Maxwell has tweaked his groin, while wingers Keshi Anderson and Grant Ward remain long term absentees. Marvin Ekpiteta could come back in after suffering concussion, while Appleton sweats on the fitness of Wolves loanee Theo Corbeanu (who missed Canada's World Cup games) and influential midfielder Kenny Dougall. The former is not expected to feature against City at the KCOM, which is good news because he caused City problems in the reverse fixture, which City eventually won 3-1. Dougall will probably be ok, he scored a great goal in that game. The ****.

Maybe Blackpool's starting XI (4-4-2): Grimshaw, Connolly (Billy?), Rhys Williams, Ekpiteta (c), Garbutt, Lavery, Dougall, Carey, Patino, Madine, Yates

I would expect McLoughlin to keep his place rather than Figgy, other than that as you say.

Good luck. Something that was posted late November arrived last Wednesday and something that was posted 13th December on tracked 24 is still at the sorting office.

That paragraph about Elder is a bit harsh. 'Returning after watching his countries exploits from his front room'

I wouldn't want you writing my obituary Steven!

Tough one, it'll be interesting to see if we change shape to accommodate him, If we stay the same as last week then I think he replaces smith ( but I'm almost certain he'll start on the bench )

Football isn't it though? Its a low scoring game with an element of luck. Sometimes the best side doesn't win and thats why it's the best game in the world.

I'd be concerned if by the end of Jan we hadn't pulled away. But it's not a 'must win' game, and putting that kind of pressure on it only makes it more nervy and more likely a banana skin.

    Whe 'should' win it tho.

I had a feeling Allahyar might be back in the squad for Boxing day, Liam doesn't give much away, but from what I heard he was looking strong in training. I agree with Allowentry he should start when fully match fit, up top on the right. Maybe will get the last 20 minutes Boxing day if the situation allows. Great news he's back, will add some real extra pace and energy going forward.
