Hull City The Tigers never seem to know whether they want to win or lose lately but they came away from the usually cursed Ashton Gate with a desperately needed win. There were returns to the side for the likes of Bruce, Koren, Simpson and Aluko, and we can all say, Aluko and Simpson's link up for the first goal was beautiful. There has been promising signs within the side that City may actually be able to win games by grafting it out rather than performing well which is always a sign of a good side. On the other hand, if we perform well, more than not, we can dispose of the opposition with ease. We've calmed down with leaking in goals, and have started only conceding one rather than the 3. With January approaching and contracts running out, Bruce will surely be looking to offload some players for some cash and replace them with his players and we can push on further from then onwards. The objective at the moment is to continue playing well and get a strong enough position to push on from January and challenge the top 6 positions. The midfield looked strong again at Brizzle, with the inclusion of Koren, we certainly regained control of the middle of the field and looked to travel forward with ease. Should the defence rediscover last Season's solidity, there's no reason to believe in another assault on the promotion places. Barnsley FC Many's favourites for relegation this year, Barnsley are the sort of side who remain in this division, year after year on next to no funds. They have a good start, acquire enough points, then plummet down the League like a stone in the 2nd half of the Season. The Circle is usually a bad place for Barnsley to visit, with Hull scoring at least 2 every time, the most recent being a 3 - 1 win thanks to Matty Fryatt's hat trick last Season so the omen's are good for the Black and Amber Army. Barnsley have slumped earlier than usual this Season and there last result was a 4 - 1 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest and look very weak in defence. At times their attack can be underestimated, and with prolific striker Craig Davies and catalyst Jacob Mellis who can pop up with a goal, it shouldn't be. Davies notably scored 4 of Barnsley's 5 in Birmingham's very own back yard. This is another match were City cannot enter being complacent and expect to win by turning up, and really need to get at Barnsley and try and help our goal difference. Top Scorers Hull City Jay Simpson - 5 Goals Sone Aluko - 4 goals Abdoulaye Faye - 3 goals Aaron McLean - 3 goals Robert Koren - 2 goals Stephen Quinn - 2 goals Nick Proschwitz - 2 goals Barnsley FC Craig Davies - 8 goals Chris Dagnall - 2 goals Tomasz Cywka - 2 goals Jacob Mellis - 2 goals Bobby Hassell - 1 goal Super Tiger's Prediction With City's recent goal scoring form, and Barnsley's weak defence, I can't see anything but a home win. I said the same with Peterborough, but with City always scoring at least 2 against them at the KC - maybe barring one game - there's too much in our squad for Barnsley. If our defence can manage to keep Davies under tabs, then Barnsley won't really be a threat. All the possession should be City and I predict a 3 - 1 win.
I would go for the same team as Bristol but with Faye coming in in defence at the expense of McShane. I predict a 3-0 win for the Tigers!
As long as we avoid complacency and keep Davies and Mellis quiet we should be good enough for the 3 points and possibly making it a comfortable win. Barnsley looked really poor against Forest yesterday and if we get at them early and take our chances we can improve our goal difference. Would be good to head into a tough run of fixtures in the next 4 weeks on the back of a win. City 3-0 Barnsley.
I was watching a football league coverage stream when the 2nd went in, was watching a ss2 stream but it clearly got a ****load of people switch to it at half time as second half the quality dropped like **** and it was so stutters it would give an epileptic a right ****ing fit.
Used to have sky, cancelled it on principle. Kept pushing the prices up and up and up yet dropping them to even less than half of what it cost me for the full package for new customers. And rupert Murdoch is a total ****, hope he gets eaten by rats.
Weird one this, if we play on top form i think we'll beat them convincingly, but City tend to start sluggishly and if that happens it could turn out to be another Peterborough. Plus, i dunno whether they're demolishing of Brum at St Andrews reflects them as a team or whether that was a one off. Which ever it was City need to be up for it from the kick off. They've just been thrashed on their own patch and ticket prices are a joke, so i can't see many travelling from Barnsley. I hope i'm wrong. Away crowds have been ****e so far this season. Past meetings to remember:- Fryatt's hattrick in the rain last season. City having a bad day at the office, after going 2-0 up we somehow lost it 3-2 at the start of the Parkinson era. Campbell's first match for us in our promotion season- and him putting in a great performance up front with Deano & demolishing them.
