It can't be long now. Got my East Stand eviction notice today and noticed the ground was being prepared for the Hull Tigers franchise. No mention of Hull City, Hull City AFC, just Hull Tigers and 'support your local team' (eh? I am doing ...it's called Hull City). The Tigers' head that has been used by the club since on and off 1972 was on the envelope but there was no name. Ditto 'Matt Wild's letter ...no proper letterhead just the wordless Tiger's head. Identity change by stealth, like some backward totalitarian regime trying to erase all traces of an unwanted history. Surely it can't be long before the railway nameplate does a Martin Fish-style disappearance as the hated 'Hull City' words are removed from sight? With this in mind, does anyone know when the auction might be and will it be Baitson's or Dee & Atkinson?
I can see it being a raffle prize at the most obsequious and grovellingly grateful Corporates' Xmas bash. Some of them may secretly carry a torch for the old name but daren't say so for fear of being chucked off the gravy train.
Quality, better than those mono-rail fans, they've one track minds, so you just get a thread full of one-liners.
Anyway,I'll certainly be chuffed if it comes up for auction and would put in a sleeper bid till the last minute. I'll be on my guard for the auction listings.
