Could it be the announcement of our new keeper?

    I shouldn't think so.

It's much more likely to be the signing of Billy Sharp and the expansion of our stadium to 50,000. <ok>

Thanks - but don't believe everything you read on twitter - half of us don't believe we have any chance (or intention) of signing Sharpe

It was quite fun being OLM for 20 minutes, stating it's Mannone for a fact and receiving plenty of messages asking how I knew, only for me to respond, 'I have my sources'

I think the Mannone deal is a very good one for us because he has proved that given regular games he is a very talented young player.
His recent catastrophic spell at Arsenal will probably make them more likely to release him permanently and also make him more willing to leave the Emirates than when he was previously here.
If he can get back to the solid form which made him a favourite here we will be in the box-seat to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

Is his contract actually up at the end of the season as speculated?

I know there'll be skeptics to this but Football Manager 2012 has him down as tied to a deal until 2014. Obviously it's only a game but the series has proven to be extremely accurate over the years when it comes to things like that.

He's on long deal, I don't know when it actually expires, but it's certainly not soon.

2014 may be right then, he signed a 'long-term' deal in 2010 and usually that means 4-5 years, it's rare that you see anything longer.

The length of Mannone's current contract is irrelevant because he is clearly now surplus to requirements at Arsenal.
Wenger will probably be willing to sell in the next window and if all parties are happy a permanent deal could be possible.
