Steve Bruce 'to show his hand' against Rotherham United Manager Steve Bruce has hinted he will play his strongest possible team when Hull City face Rotherham United on Saturday. With a place in the play-offs already guaranteed, Bruce has rotated his squad in the past two matches. But the Tigers boss suggested his selection against Rotherham would be close to the team he intends to use in the play-off semi-finals against Derby. Bruce said: "It's a big chance to impress. "Really, I've got an idea of the team I'm going to play against Derby. It's important that a few play. "We've rotated a little bit in the past month or so. "We've got nearly a fully fit squad, so let's hope I choose the right one." David Meyler and Nick Powell remain City's only absentees, while Abel Hernandez has trained all week after recovering from an ankle knock. Bruce says he has no concerns over revealing his plans to Derby with his selection against Rotherham. Bruce said: "I really don't give a flying… whether I show my hand or not. "They'll have an idea about us, just like I've got an idea about them. I went to Brighton on Monday to go and have a look at them. "We've played them twice and I've seen them four or five times. "We know Derby and I'm sure [Rams manager] Darren Wassall knows us. "Yes, it shows my hand possibly but I've got to get some football into the lads who need it." http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull-City-press-conf/story-29237815-detail/story.html#ixzz47rrr2800
"We know Derby and I'm sure [Rams manager] Darren Wassall knows us" - I'm sure he (and his staff) do given they've given us a spanking twice this season. So the question should be what the hell are we going to do differently? Though sadly I suspect the answer to that question is "nothing".
It's the Championship, every team is looking to knock seven bells of **** out of us. We have to man up and be ready for it.
Colin is not playing.............................. IS HE ??? If i were a Rotherham player my only concern would be to finish the game in one piece with minimal fuss and effort and get into my summer hols.
It's not a nothing game, we need momentum going into the Derby game. Every game has the possibility of injury but if Abel bangs a hat trick it'll set him up nicely for the next game.
He knows us, Bruce doesn't know them. The important games are really elsewhere tomorrow, and very important as well. All the more frustrating that we aren't involved.
It's not a 'nothing game', sunshine. If you are aware of the Academy/Under 21's final, you should be aware of the away leg/home leg factor. If the aggregate of the two games - City and Derby - is a draw at full time on the second leg, then there'd be extra time and possibly penalties. Would you rather that was at Derby or the KC? The first leg is away (at the mo) but they/we can still reverse the positions 4 Hull 45 30 80 5 Derby 45 24 78
