Robertson doing the presser with Phelan this morning... please log in to view this image Robbo “We’re in a good position going into the first international break. Six points is a great tally but we want to add to that." Robbo on Phelan "He's been very impressive, the way he's conducted himself during the whole saga. I'd like to see him get the job now. He's undefeated and I think he should get the job. It's up to the people above." Robbo on Man United "Pogba, Ibrahimovic, you want to be playing against the best. I played against Pogba for Scotland and he controlled the game. We need to make sure we don't let him do that. We can pose a threat going forward." Phelan on his position - "Nothing has changed. I'm still in charge of the team. I've spoken to who could be potentially the new owners. Not about my future but about other things." Phelan on transfers "We have agreed fees with clubs for players. We just have to pursue those before the deadline. We need as many as we can get. We talked about six, it may be more or it may be less." [New signings] won't break up what we've got here. We have a special understanding. They have to understand why they would come here and what the club means to the people. We have to be real. We have to get football players in but they cost a lot of money. We are ready, if we can press the right buttons, to do some deals. Not ruling out a deal for Ryan Mason. Phelan on Maguire and Hernandez leaving "Nothing has happened in those areas and I don't expect anything to happen." "There are three things to solve at this club "Who's in charge of it "The manager situation "What players are coming in?"
Seems everyone is fit, hinted that Livermore will start at centre back even though Maguire is fit. Have a few fees agreed for players, which they hope to conclude before deadline day. Phelan has spoken to the new owners but not about his future. He doesn't expect any players to leave before the transfer window closes.
If we are to end our winning run this might be the best time to do it, against Man U and just before a 2-week break to get over it. Still reckon there's an outside chance of a point though, 1-1 for me, ever the optimist.
Philip Buckingham @PJBuckingham Greg Luer facing a few weeks out with his knee injury but Josh Tymon should be fit for a place on the bench tomorrow.
Interesting considering the previous reports, including from yourself, of Phelan being not well liked by Bruce and the players to now hear the glowing reports he's getting. Wonder if he was just a yes man carrying out Bruce's orders, or the opposite and caused friction, or the reports were wrong?
About the only thing i liked about keen bates was his quote... I'd rather take the word of a dog over that of a footballer.
I doubt he was a yes man, but he certainly appeared to be carrying out SB orders. Since he has been in charge there is a marked difference in the way we are playing.
