Why do we waste time pursuing players like this? He was always going to be made an offer by a lower half PL side, and he was always going to accept it over ours.
It just strikes me as a sloppy "quick fix" bit of scouting. QPR need to consider whether a move is good for their targeted player's career, as well as our club. If it's not, then you're inevitably going to acquire someone who doesn't fit in with the ethos we're trying to breed (right sort). Or you're going to waste time on a pipe dream...and miss signing someone more sensible, like Nahki Wells.

I wonder if Tony headed to Bradford to play fifa with Wells? I doubt it, somehow.

Don't worry we are probably looking for some unfit old fart looking for a last pay day.

You could do worse than getting Fryatt off us now he's match fit. If we bring in Long as well (we've put a bid in for him today and said we both) then Fryatt is going to be behind Jelavic, Long, Sagbo, and Aluko (due back from injury in a week or two), as well as Koren and Boyd who can play in the hole. He missed last season injured and has been coming back this season on loan at Wednesday for a bit and then for us over Xmas. 2011/12 he was out top scorer with 16 goals (we only scored 47 as a team that season). In 2011 he was the top scorer in the Championship (he joined us in January 2011 so I'm not sure what he was like first half of that season) and finished 2010/11 as our top scorer as well (9 goals in half a season).

I'm also sure he's out of contract in the summer, so you could either sign him permanently cheaply or pay us a small loan fee and take over his wages for the rest of the year. We're not going to have space in our 25 for all our players so getting him off the wage bill would be quite useful.

EDIT: He is only 27 though so he won't meet your usual signing requirements. Will that be a problem or will his serious injury compensate for that? (he hasn't seemed to suffer any problems coming back other than the usual build up of fitness after a year out)

If you're meaning Fryatt, he'd be a regular for us if he hadn't got a season ending injury within about 3 games of Bruce taking over, and most of us want him playing for us now he's match fit (obviously if Long and Jelavic sign that changes). You're wanting a striker to work with Austin, and Nigel Pearson's plan when he signed Fryatt for us was to pair him with Austin, so you would have to think they're the kind of players that should be able to combine well. The only reason we didn't was because we couldn't afford the asking price.

I think fryatt would be a good option Ricardo, cheers for the input! The highlighted point is very valid as well, I hadn't thought of that.

Even I'd forgotten about it until I saw the comment about Austin being better than Jelavic.

Strange how you made the comment about Fryatt 1 1/2 hours before I mentioned that Austin is better than Jelavic

By the way Austin is far better than Jelavic, but is playing with poorer players

I'd like to think that we go for this type of player more of a speculative option and if it comes off hey all well and good but more that it takes people off the scent on who we are really after. I believe Harry did this with M'vila in his pursuit of Remy and hopefully I am not wrong on this occasion, I guess we will have to wait and see.

I also think the Nahki Wells deal was probably not going to happen for a few reasons out of our control
    1. He just doesn't want to move south
    2. TF did not want to give him a 4 1/2 year deal after the long contracts already on the books, can't blame him for that
    3. Harry doesn't rate him enough

I know but I don't believe that Harry has a huge amount data on most players.

I meant I forgot about the Fryatt/Austin partnership being NP's plan until I saw Austin mentioned.
