I'm actually being serious for once Still, it's good to know that the average resident of these islands thinks that opposing a colonial, political war on the other side of the world is being a WUM.
The people of the Falklands deserve self determination, same as anyone else in a similar situation. The Argies and the rest of their rag tag band of dubious allies talk of "Imperial" Britain as if the UK was the only nation on earth who have clung to territories taken in their heyday, but they are very selective when it comes to pointing the finger, same as the Spaniards and Gibraltar. (and Russia for that matter) Argentina cannot simply "Claim" the Falklands because they happen to be nearer to it than Britain, nor can they honestly expect the people of the Islands to accept Argentina's tenous claim, it is sabre rattling and nothing else. Next thing we know Iceland will lay claim to Shetland.
Told you before that Shetland and Orkney want self determination and do not want to be part of Scotland. Both consider themselves of Nordic descent.

In essence that's the problem here, every half baked country on earth wants some island or piece of land back from the evil oppressors of history, I for one don't see how anyone can own "land" but when it comes to disputes such as this finders keepers is the best form of negotiation. **** Argentina says I, and anyone who falls into line with them just to get back at our evil empire.
Dev, Britain, and Cameron in particular, is the one claiming Imperialism. The islands were colonised by the British Empire - expelling the Argentine residents - that's the most Imperialist thing possible!!! The Argies don't simply claim the islands because they're near them - as I said, they, despite what every other ****er has posted, had a permanent settlement there FIRST and have claimed the Falklands/Malvinas since day one. It's not simply about oil in Argentina - the reason Galtieri invaded was the country was economically pumped and he thought that fixing an old nationalistic wound would enable him to survive it - pretty much the same as our reasons for the war. All over Argentina, there are signs on country roads proclaiming "Las Malvinas Son Argentinas" - it's a proper source of national anguish and dented pride. Argentina has only ever been involved in one "external" war - the Falklands. It's not as if they are a warmongering country with an Imperialist past.

Wasn't a map of blood types arranged for the British Isles for a BBC series about them and they found that areas claiming Viking descent (Largs, York, Shetlands) actually had very little in them and the most Viking place in the British Isles was Dublin?
My brother-in-law and about 10 of his pals moved there/ran away there when they were teenagers. They couldn't believe how few polis there were and how easy to rip-off the local landlords were. It was a shocking episode

I was staying in Govan before i moved up there, i was a right wee thief when i was there.
