Easy tiger. Just because some shoddy report has been banded about, doesn't mean for one minute we are after him.

I'm starting to think in the same way tbh. Are we 'being faithful' to those that got us up a little to much ?
Our DEF needs something doing to it that´s for sure, I cringed when I saw Konch in the team v Everton.

NP has admitted he wants to bring in another defender hence the Fanni trial ... but I'm pleased we didn't just sign him up without a trial etc - NP also now said that Sol Bamba won't be coming back ... have some faith ... we are doing fine ...

Nigel usually does his business really early

I think its been difficult through agents looking for a payday and Nigel sticking to his guns

I still have complete faith in Pearson

We wanted Aaron Cresswell from Ipswich but West Ham got him. They could end up paying about 7M for him

Free transfer for an experienced international?

Price is right - although we seem to have bad luck with Portuguese players...

He is 30 - would be in your youth team <laugh>

But anyway, we are after older players - our average age is in the early 20s so need experience.

I've been watching your transfers and I've been wondering the same as 1884; when we came up we knew that Meyler, Quinn, Boyd and Chester were good enough for the Premier League, but we also strengthened with Davies, Huddlestone, McGregor and Livermore. We went out and bought established quality, where as NP seems more reliant on the players that took you up. Which is fine if they can last the distance, but I'd have thought he'd try and subsidise your squad with some players of higher quality than Matthew Upson and Marc Albrighton.

This comes down to two factors.
The first harks back to something I said on another thread. Racking up 100pts last season has given everyone a warped perspective on the team. Reaching that milestone may end up being your biggest downfall this year- because it's resulted in everyone at the club believing you're effectively "already" a PL side (so don't need much strengthening). I suspect as the season progresses you'll slowly realise that isn't that case.

Secondly negotiating transfers in the PL is a whole different kettle of fish. He and your money-men have no experience with this, so will naturally be a bit green. When we went up initially- this fully applied to us too. We were very naïve in the transfer windows.
Should you manage to survive this season then they'll have a lot more experience under their belt, and I can see the summer of 2015 going more smoothly.

It's all about brinkmanship and "game playing" at this level, and I can't imagine Pearson being motivated to get involved in that (unfortunately necessary) side of transfers if he thinks the team's already roughly good enough.

That said, you might make 3 fantastic additions in the last week &all will be forgotten <ok>

I disagree with your first point Grif. I dont believe for one moment that "everyone at the club" (not one for that matter) believe we are already a PL side. Not a chance in hell they think that.
You only draw that conclusion because of the signings (or lack of) we have made. No one knows what other deals we have attempted to make that did not come to fruition, but I can assure you that Pearson doesnt suufer fools gladly and he and his backroom staff KNOW we need further "quality" additions, hence the ongoing hunt for Cambiasso. Who knows what other irons he has in the fire.

That takes me on to your second point which I agree with Grif and possibly pur lack of "nouse" in the transfer window with acquiring players a higher level. We certainly have a squad that will compete with every team in the bottom half if we stay clear of injuries, but we need 2/3 more quality additions, which Pearson has openly admitted we need and is indeed working hard to bring in.

Pearson always likes to do his business early on, so the fact that we are still chasing 2/3 players going into the last week of the transfer windows, tells us that a number of deals he wanted to happen have not worked out.

Lets assess things on September 1st and my fingers are crossed we can get someone in. <ok>

I see what you're saying Miami, but the two comments in bold are mutually exclusive. If you think you can already compete with bottom half PL teams- then you think your squad is already a PL squad. (or do you mean compete after signings?)

Am I right in saying the team is largely the same as it was during the 11/12 and 12/13 campaigns when it finished 6th/9th in the championship? In fact that was roughly the level you were at during the first half of last season. In the past 3 years, this group of players have had one truly exceptional 4+a bit month spell from the end of Dec2013 to the end of April2014. But their average levels in that timeframe are a way below that.

I see Leicester as a confidence team that feeds off form and momentum. After the QPR victory last season those good vibes just snowballed. But where will you get form and momentum from in the PL? The pain of your 12/13 playoff loss to Watford would've charged last season's run too- but that won't be a factor this time.

Long story short...don't let the 100pts be the deciding factor in transfer policy!

Again, I dont believe for one second that our club/staff/players will be putting any emphasis on what happened last season. of course confidence is high, thats what a winning mentality does, but they also know (or should do!) that this is a totally different scenario and we now go again and start from scratch on zero points (or 1 now!) in arguably the best/toughest league in the world.

I stand by what I said in that our "current" squad of players will match all lower half "established" team. What I was disagreeing was that we already think we are an "established" PL team. They know we need additions to add to what we have and take us to this next level.

Im not sure Leicester are unique in feeding off momentum/form/winning. Would that not apply for every team out there? What we also have though is terrific team spirit and fight which will help us to bounce back when we take a drubbing in this league (maybe tomorrow!)

Dont get me wrong Grif, I know it going to be a tough and aware we need more quality additions and like I said lets reserve judgement until Sept 1st
