Newcastle fan here in peace. I think Chris Hughton would be a great appointment for you. Possibly not as high profile as you want, im not sure, but he is honest, holds himself with class, good in the transfer market and tactically good. I wonder what you think?

Not a bad shout, I feel his personality would possibly fit the club's ethos quite well. However, if O Neill is available then I feel we should do all we can to get him on board.

Just said the same on a different board. I have several Geordie friends, and they loved him. Hes a nice guy- there are others i'd rather, but i would not be dissappointed if we got him

Think Hughton is more of a coach ,in the style of Ray Lewington, too nice for players to accept as a manager. Just can't see him being ahead in the order of preference for the club.

Hughton is one i'm not sure about. Yes he did a good job at Newcastle, but Pardew has managed to keep Newcastle in mid-table and he's an awful manager. There are better options out there, but I wouldn't throw my toys out of the pram at his appointment.

I like Hughton as a man and he was shabbily treated, but as a manager I feel Fulham might expect someone with more clout and experience.

    What Rocky said.

I generally look for a manager with 5-10 years experience, not necessarily at the top level, but just the experience of sitting on the touchline, being the one having to make the decisions, dealing with injuries through a season and so on. After that time, a manager has enough of a mental database to react well to the unexpected. I know Hughton has got lots more than ten years as a coach, but he's still a fairly new manager, and a massive gamble at the top level. He did great at Newcastle, but would he have sustained that? We'll never know. It seems that he's about to be appointed at Cardiff, which would be a good opportunity for him to prove himself a bit more. Maybe in a few years we should look at him again, but I would worry about him at Fulham right now.

And we could call the ground White Hart Cottage.

Cottagecravens, I don't see it. It did happen before, but that was before Hughton had tried his hand as a manager in his own right. Now that he's had a taste, I suspect he'll want to try again rather than become someone else's right hand man.

Talking of names, I seem to recall that Jol normally takes his delightfully named brother Cock along with him. If things go wrong, we could even see a glorious return to the bad old days of 'Dicks Out'

I love the fact that Jol's brothers are called Dick and Cock. Maybe we can sign that guy that Man City were interested in? Pussy I think his name was...
