Credit to him for having the bottle to drop Barton, as I didnt think he would. However, I really hope todays result doesnt mean he will put SWP and Barton back in the side again. He seems to have done that recently with Mackie - he does well so he starts him, then we as a team do badly and SWP is back in the side. We need consistency and the starting 11 should start again v Arsenal - with the LR crowd cheering them on.
Looks like it was a awful decision, and at the time I did express my concern at the time it takes him to have an impact at clubs. 2 wins in what 10 games? Shocking.
Just on the train back from the game now..... I actually thought that SWP had a reasonable game - worked very hard and played some good passes However, in general we were sh*te - the back 3 (ie not including Taiwo) had a shocking game, with even basic clearances seemingly beyond them. I lost count of the number of times the ball was played back to Kenny rather than a constructive forward ball Given the amount of hoof ball we played we are clearly already thinking about our return to the Championship And don't get me started on discipline
Fully agree and have thought the same since the day he showed up. Cannot accept the players are chucked out and the idiot stays. Cost what it costs Hughes has to be first to go. Never could stand the dirty bastard,
He can't help the players getting sent off which has cost us dearly or a perfectly good goal disallowed. He must be tearing his hair out. Subbed Diakite to prevent another which was an unplanned one. Add in injuries and he's had no luck to just manage the team.
Did diakite look like getting sent off again then? Hughes has to start taking some of the blame now. Surely, surely he has given the players the order not to get sent off. It comes a time when it cannot just be the players fault.
that whole comment conflicts itself, if he takes a player that has a yellow on his belt out to prevent him from taking another (as many here was hoping he'd do) and has has given the players the order to not get sent off, how is it his fault that Cisse takes a straight red??? I'd say it IS the players fault, not the managers...
I never said it was totally Hughes's fault. But surely the players are being told to watch their discipline?
they are being told, it was widely covered after the first Cisse red that strict disciplinary actions were to be taken for stupid bookings/showings off in the future.
If anybody says that we have desperately unlucky with red cards I am going to flip. It's not unlucky, it's f**king stupidity! Barton vs Norwich = Stupid. Cisse vs Wolves = Stupid (should know better). Diakite vs Fulham = Stupid. Cisse vs Sunderlan = stupid.
today for Cisse it wasn't an unlucky red, a clear 2foot tackle, straight red. Not to say that it happened in an intense struggle for posession, had no malicious intention and hardly hit the opposition. For me quite understandable, but a pro should know better than to go in with both feet.
