a reliable player with a good attitude is how I remember him .

 

He was awesome when he man marked Del Piero when we played Juventus

 

Poor Juventus side that year but I remember being at the game and loving it.

 

Didn't he make his debut against Barcelona at Camp Nou? Not a bad way to make a start to your career.

Souness sold him if I recall correctly. The number of Premier League appearances he went onto make, may be an indicator of how wrong it was to get rid. It always annoyed me that out defence got worse and worse after we sold him for essentially buttons.

 

He was a very solid defender.
Should have spent his entire career with us in my opinion.

Yup - saw that useless twat make his debut against Yeading at Loftus Rd in the Cup. Turned like a tanker and got skinned by the Yeading strikers regularly - pretty much set the bar for his career at Newcastle really

 

Remember watching that game on the tv at the time. He made Bambi on Ice a reality show.
