Mark Hughes insists there is no complacency in the Queens Park Rangers squad and is confident everyone is focused on securing Premier League survival.

QPR are currently one point from safety with 10 games to go after winning just once in the top flight since Hughes replaced Neil Warnock as manager in early January.

Liverpool are the visitors to Loftus Road on Wednesday evening, while the Rs still have to play Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the season.

However, Hughes is adamant his players understand the club's predicament and is determined to start picking up points on a more consistent basis.

    Motivating factor

"We're not skirting around the subject, certainly," said the QPR boss.

"We've made it really clear that we need to perform and we understand the consequences if we don't. You can use it as a motivating factor, I'm sure.

"We understand very clearly that we're in a scrap and we need to start putting points on the board. We understand that very, very clearly.

"There's no complacency in terms of what we have to do to ensure that we stay in the Premier League this year.

"We're fully in tune, fully focused."

Asked if it was time his big-name players stepped up, he added: "Everybody has to step up. It's important that we get big performances from everyone in the team, everyone who's selected.

"If we have that then we've got a chance because we can't afford to go into games with one, two, three, four players not quite at the level they need to be."

Complacent? How could they possibly be complacent?

That would be like me being complacent about winning the lottery.

Just for a second thought this read "Mark Hughes is confident on securing Premier League survival". It doesn't sadly and that says all you need to know about our predicament.
