Could Hughes be found out at the end of the season? Two teams relegated due to his ineptitude. Or according to him poor reffing decisions, bad luck, poor pitch, wrong weather etc.
I am really torn on this one. Well, not that torn when you consider Stoke are one of the teams - and I hate Stoke. But I like Southampton, so that part of me wants them to stay up. And it's in relation to Southampton getting relegated that I am torn on. The part of me that wants them to go down isn't even the bit of me that hates Mark Hughes. It isn't even the bit of me that remembers the time he ran in front of my car in Alderley Edge and then gave me the verbals when it was him who hadn't looked where he was going. To be fair, if he is a mind reader then he may have picked up on the regret I had at hitting the brakes before I realised it was him. But anyway. The bit of me that does want Southampton to go down is the bit of me that hates Robbie Savage. Savage ****s himself to sleep over Mark Hughes every night. And every week on 606 he goes on about what a good manager Hughes is and how he's never been relegated. That bit of me wants Southampton to be relegated. Just to shut knobhead Savage up. Shame really, as I've always liked them as a club and think they have a good set of fans.
Aye, I’ve nowt against Saints or Stoke... just can’t stand Sparky, With Regards to blaming him if Saints do go down, he was hired with the intention of preventing relegation so...yes, I can blame the excuse making, ex manure, overated player tosser.
As much as I like Southampton. my hatred of Mark Hughes very much allows me to lay the blame at his door - and with great pleasure. In an ideal scenario*, you would sack him with 2 games to go after realising he is **** and not the man to lead you back out of the championship. West Brom would realise the same about Pardew and sack him. Then just before the last game of the season, West Brom misguidedly appoint Mark Hughes to rebuild the team for next year, thus meaning he had taken all three teams down *Ideal from the point of view of hating Mark Hughes. I'd actually quite like you lot to stay up - and wish you luck in doing so
Nah that's bollocks, the blame lies with our board and the fact they appointed such a poor manager and then didn't sack him months ago when it was obvious he was out of his depth. Always going to be a big ask to keep us up but still might. Cheers mate. Huge job still but there's still a chance. Even if he kept us up though I'd like us to look elsewhere in the Summer.
Have to disagree strongly on point you’re making. If West Brom sack Pardew then Pouchy won’t shut up about Pardew never taking a team down. Even as it is Pouchy’s clutching at the “it’s not his team” arguement but if he’s not even there then he’ll have an extra straw to be clutching at. Sorry LL but Southampton are just collateral damage in this debate.
Didn't Pardew take you to a top6 finish? Before all the better players were sold and not adequately replaced leading to relegation a couple of years later. Sounds familiar actually...
If you're referring to the Leicester game, then I still can't believe there was no red card shown. It was totally unacceptable the way that monster Lennon headbutted his boot.
Funny, two seasons back I posted on the Southampton board and stated the model looked exactly like ours, signing cheap players and selling them on to Liverpool for a ridiculous profit, but re-investing a miniscule fraction into the squad. Obviously, the point was that eventually it's unsustainable and relegation a possibility. I was roundly and very aggressively told I was wrong to make comparison, your board and chairwoman are wonderful genii, and yet now it'll be you lot warning other spend thrifts of future problems! The divide in the league between the haves and have nots is ridiculous, and the end of the cycle for the Saints seems near, because their last few games has been the worst premier league performances I have witnessed. The Wigan game, even, was a disgrace. No quality whatsoever.
