    .... local derby.

There's a history of trouble between the two clubs and it's often quite serious.

It's the same whenever Bastia play at Nice.
(I also remember the Newcastle supporters getting a real battering inside the ground at Bastia once.)

Corsicans don't want to be French and it's a political struggle as well as a football rivalry.

78 I think it was. We took a battering in the stands and on the pitch iirc. These corsicans have a lot of previous for being seriously mental.

Very strange people but I like them and get on with them well ....... very passionate and proud.

I was in a bar in Bastia, last summer, and they had an NUFC flag with the old magpie design.

The Corsican resistance was highly praised by the American military and were very brave.

I've been to some of the memorials and museums over there and tbh they were incredible.

The flag was left over from that Newcastle match in the 70's <ok>

Not ignorance mate, just a popular theory that's been pumped out for decades.

Sicily, Sardinia & Corsica were a nightmare for the Germans, they just couldn't handle the locals.

I knew Sardinia was in my WW2 studies, I concentrated more on the Eastern Front (cough cough)..

I was there for the second leg. Bit vague, but I remember some French fans getting hoyed our for setting a flare off just on kick off time. And Jonny Rep scoring a screamer from 30 yards.
