They are yet to record a win in 2023, having lost 3 and drawn 1. They last won on December 29th, 2022 against Rotherham. Their top scorer is Jordan Rhodes, who has 6 goals so far this year. Their manager is Mark Fotheringham, a young manager who has learnt his trade either as an assistant or coach, mainly working in Germany, before moving to Hudderfield in September 2022. A glance through their squad and they certainly have experience up front, with Martyn Waghorn, Jordan Rhodes and Danny Ward...but maybe their age is catching up with them as Huddersfield have only scored 25, the second lowest in the division. As for us, see the match day thread for all thoughts about the Hull debacle. Perfect opportunity to turn things around, against a team in the relegation zone. If Johansen is fit he surely has to start, and as has been suggested on here by others, I'd like to see Armstrong start as well. Here's hoping that we at least see a vast improvement in the performance at least...and hopefully a win! We need it because at present, I'm struggling to think of much positive to say about where we are at. What really baffles me, is that we went from (mostly) celebrating Willock's return from injury here, https://www.not606.com/threads/willock-set-to-return.403232/ , to the general consensus that he should be dropped here, https://www.not606.com/threads/drop-chris-willock.404754/. What a change in only three months. Is that down to poor management, is that him being distracted by other offers, or is it just that he stopped caring? Team news QPR: Kenneth Paal and Ethan Laird are in contention for a return, but Lyndon Dykes remains in hospital. Huddersfield: Anthony Knockaert may make his debut, with Martyn Waghorn in contention, but Etienne Camara and Danny Ward are out. Pre-match talk Neil Critchley (QPR head coach): “I understand the frustration of fans. None of us are happy with where we are now. "Huddersfield have had a difficult season so far, but they’ve added some good, experienced players In January, and it will obviously be another tough test away from home. “But we are capable of winning the game – but we have to respect the fact that they’re fighting for their lives.” Mark Fotheringham (Huddersfield head coach): “It feels like it’s been forever since we’ve played at home, I love playing at home in front of our crowd. “It’s only going to be hard work and determination that gets us out of this situation, and that starts Saturday against QPR.” ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
Thanks Dave. Too many firsts in the commentary Dave. You know what that means: "QPR, the team that loves to give".
Not looking forward to this. Personally don't see where a single win is going to come from at present.
I see the B team got another win. When I went to watch them in the last game Rafferty Pedder was brilliant. He scored again last night and Critchley was there watching. Maybe pushing for a first-team place? Surely we need to start looking at them instead of the likes of Adomah, who very sadly looks completely past it.
You would really hope with Critchley watching he is there to totally start from scratch bring a few of the B team through to our core team.At least they are playing for each other and look excited by scoring!
Yep. I really enjoyed the game I went to. £5 to get in and 5 minutes cycle to Hanwell Town for me. Will be going again and encourage others to do the same if they want to enjoy a game for once...
Latest Critchley interview - "We had a really good conversation after the Hull debacle, we've stressed the importance of coming together for the last 17 matches and we've had a great week of training ready for the Huddersfield game. We realise it's up to us to put things right........yadda yadda yadda, blah, blah, blah.........." Correct me If I'm wrong, as I often am, but I have the faintest inkling that i've heard this somewhere before..............perhaps several times?
